Snails are extremely destructive. They can do major damage to crops.

1. Get your workers to forage and remove the snails physically. That’s about the most effective way. The problem is that they sleep during the day and feed at night so it is tough to find them. However, they feed just after it rains or if you water your plant. Look through dark moist areas carefully

2. If you have chickens or ducks, allow them free range through your farm once in a while. They are big enemies of snails

3. Try get rabbit urine and spray on your crops. They are both an organic fertilizer and the smell deters snails. Mix it at 3:1 to 5:1. 3 parts water and 1 part urine.

Please don’t underestimate the damage snails can do to your farm.

Previous belief is that Apple doesn't grow in Nigeria, but research gone more than that, some of us already know that by now the recent hybrid is completely compatible with nigeria soil / All African soil.

Semi Arid Wambugu Apple Seedlings
The normally imported apple, here's hybrid that's compatible with nigeria soil. It starts fruiting in 1 year (at most 2 years). Between 500 to 2,000 fruits per tree per fruiting season. *And it fruits twice per year July /August & December/January.*
Far too many people eat apple daily. The demand is high but the only supply is import, border is usually been closed. Apple is a very lucrative gold mine.
Buy an improved, well nursed, dwarf very fertile hybrid apple seedlings.
This is a recent improved hybrid compatible with all African soil

Planting space 4m x 4m
30 per Plot
180 per Acre
450 per Hectare

HOW TO PLANT IT

Wambugu Apple is completely compatible with numerous soil (all African soil, Nigerian soil, etc) it only requires care.

Needed
- Organic Manure (animal waste dried upto 6months, DO NOT USE FRESH)
- Water
- Pesticide (just to be on the safer side)
- Fertilizer (Organic or NPK)- optional, but essential

TO PLANT:
Dig a big hole for the seedling , set dry leave (could be banana/plantain leaves) inside the floor of the hole, remove the seedling-nylon gently and place gently inside the hole on the dry leaves (banana/plantain leaves), fill up with soil.

Kindly plant on a Sandy-Loamy soil or a well draining good soil that allow free flow of excess water.

WAMBUGU APPLE CAN NOT TOLERATE WATERLOGGED SOIL/AREA.

You can apply dried animal waste (Organic Manure dried for at least 6months) after 3 months, & atleast can be applied to the soil like every two weeks.

Pesticide should be applied IMMEDIATELY after noticing any pest symptoms. There's no disease pertaining to Wambugu Apple. Kindly snap & send to us or any agric store near you to get a Pesticide ASAP.

Organic fertilizer {or NPK fertilizer (15:15:15)} will enhance early fruiting , bigger fruits and higher yield. It could be applied After 3-4 months & like every two months.

Kindly do not water with chemically treated water - pure water, table water (if the chemical remnant could still be there) natural water is better.

Watering
Watering should be done based on the soil type either every other day or 3 times in a week (if it's a soil that get dried easily kindly water daily. Over watering/ waterlogged soil can be noticed by monitoring it to see if still doing fine, no yellowing of leaves, no stunted growth, no negative sign. Keep watering daily but if not doing fine then water every other day or 3 days a week.
Watering should be to make the soil moist, not over-watering.

- If your soil type allows free flow of excess water (by the time you want to water the following day, the soil is dried / semi-dried) kindly keep watering daily.

- But if the soil retains water more, i.e. by the time you want to water the following day the soil is still moist. Kindly water every other day (leaving a day each & watering the next day).

Alternatively if you've not dried animal waste upto 6 months do not apply yet.
Kindly plant it and allow it to continue growing naturally. Organic manure is just to enhance its growth, without it, it will still grow perfectly.

If not sure the animal waste is fully decomposed (ammonia gas fully evaporated) kindly do not apply, non dried animal waste can burn the root of the crop.

Eucalyptus camadulensis is a tree when planted dries up all water in that soil & nearby soil.

Teak, gmelina, grass etc can be used to control erosion but Eucalyptus camadulensis will driy up the water.

Type of manure used in planting__

1_rabbit manure and urine_this is the best manure use in planting ,both rabbit manure and urine serve as fertilizer ,an adult rabbit can produce 250ml of urine daily. How to use rabbit urine as fertilizer. Mixed 1 litre of rabbit urine Into 5 litre of water and spray on crops for effective performance use both urine and manures.

2_poultry manure_the is the second manure use in planting.

3_cattle manure_this manure is also good in planting.

4_goat manure _this is the manures which contain lowest amount of nutrients.

Rabbit manure can be used the following day

Poultry manure should be spread inside sun to atleast decompose for 6 months

Other animal waste should be spread inside sun to atleast decompose for 4 months.

8 MISTAKES IN TOMATO GROWING

1. Not Hardening Seedlings
Hardening your seedlings is one of the most important things you can do to help ensure their survival. Without hardening, your seedlings won’t be able to adapt to the change in temperature or the exposure to weather, like wind and rain. Some ways to ensure your seedlings are outdoor-ready include:

Gradually increase your seedlings’ exposure to the elements about a month after seeds have germinated.
For the first day of exposure, keep your plants out of direct sunlight or rain, and don’t take them out in the cold. Bring them back in after a few hours.
Seedlings will need to be exposed to the elements increasingly over a period of about 7-10 days to be fully hardened and ready for the outdoors.

2. Planting Too Closely
Planting your tomatoes too closely not only stunts their growth and causes a drop in fruit production, but it also makes it too difficult for sun to reach through the plants. This means your tomato plant suddenly becomes the perfect breeding ground for plant diseases that love the damp conditions. Here’s how to ensure your tomato plants have adequate spacing:

Tomatoes grown upright in cages need at least 1 ½ feet between them, though 2 feet is ideal. Sprawling tomatoes will require twice the amount of space. While it’s not a big deal to leave your plants slightly unsupported, you never want the plant to be touching the ground.
3. Planting the Wrong Tomatoes
Now that we’ve covered spacing requirements, the next step is choosing the right type of tomatoes for the amount of room you have. There are two main categories of tomato plants:

Determinate tomatoes only grow to be a certain size. They can be grown with or without support and don’t require pruning. These plants generally put out all their fruit, then they stop growing and die.
Indeterminate tomatoes will grow pretty much as big as you allow them to get. Therefore, they need more room and require support from a stake or cage. These plants will put out fruit all season, sometimes until the first frost.
Picking the correct type for your planting area will help you ensure your plants stay healthy and fruit-bearing all season.

4. Planting in the Shade
Like other plants that produce fruit, tomatoes need at least 7 hours of sun per day. Placing them in a shady area deprives the plant of the amount of sun it needs, and it will impact how your plant grows.

Fruit production requires a tremendous amount of energy. Like all plants, tomatoes get this energy from the sun.

Plants that don’t get enough sun will put out plenty of foliage, but little fruit. As pretty as those leaves may be, you can’t put them on the dinner table.

5. Not Pruning
If you have more space and opted for indeterminate tomatoes, part of your plant maintenance will be pruning. Reasons for pruning include:

Since overcrowding makes it easier for plant diseases to spread, neglecting to prune indeterminate plants can be detrimental.
The foliage on crowded plants will dry more slowly which encourages a variety of plant problems.
Plants need to be pruned so nutrients are being directed to fruit growth rather than to new leaf growth. Not only will plants produce smaller tomatoes at a slower rate if they aren’t pruned, but the overgrowth can also provide the perfect environment for plant diseases.
If your plants are looking diseased, sterilize your shears after use to avoid spreading the disease to healthy plants.

6. Not Ready For Early Blight
Early blight can leave your plants completely bare of foliage, and if you’re not prepared to treat it, this problem can quickly spiral out of control. Early blight is caused by a fungus that can overwinter in soil, so if you’ve had plants with this problem before, you should avoid planting in that area.

Early blight will first appear on the oldest lower leaves. You’ll see brown spots that look like targets, and the leaves will yellow around it. Eventually the whole leaf will turn brown, die and fall off.

To help prevent early blight from devastating your plants, try rotating crops — moving them to a different area of the garden with fresh soil. However, if your plant is already infected with early blight, you can treat it using an organic fungicide.

A picture of tomato fruits in the field

7. Over fertilizing
Feeding your plants is important, but feeding them too much can be just as detrimental as not feeding them at all. If used too frequently, fertilizer can build up in the soil and cause problems.

Fertilizer provides plants with nitrogen, which is great. However, excessive nitrogen can cause your plants to put more energy into growing leaves than growing the tomatoes.

To combat this issue of over fertilization, look for fertilizers specifically designed for tomatoes, or opt for a shovel full of natural compost.

8. Not Watering Properly
Inconsistent watering can lead to multiple problems for your plants, including blossom end rot. To water your plants correctly, consider:

Providing your plants with a consistent watering schedule. Ensure they are able to dry out a little bit so they are not drowning, but be sure they don’t dry out all the way.
Watering early before the sun is in full force. Damp leaves can get leaf burn or other issues from lingering water.
While these tips won’t solve every problem you could encounter in your garden, they’re definitely a great place to start when working toward healthy plants. A good garden takes a mix of time, effort and preventative measures — it’s not as simple as planting a seed and watching it grow.
Sharing is caring

For hybrid Cucumber seeds (planting/measurement):

33 to 40 seeds in 1gram, depending on spacing though but we use 70gram to 90gram on 1 plot... About 500grams will plant an acre.

About 2,000 seeds are inside a 50g tin of cucumber container
