Congrats to our able CBN governor, for his sound policies. And congrats to all those who blamed AbokiFX for manipulating forex. You see, the naira has recovered to 2015 levels Awon were. Instead of pursuing sound polices, PMB and co are there blaming everybody else, from flour millers to exchange rate publishers. So let me guess, Nairaland will be the next place to blame, for even talking about this new 1 Like |

Danosophe: Er... most countries has various players (banks, money transfer, forex people, even internet collators) that publish exchange rates that they bid/accept. Even I, as a person, can decide to to exchange a dollar for any rate I choose. If I bid too high, I won't get customers. That's how market economies work. 1 Like 1 Share |

I will not be surprised if the Naira falls to 1,000. The Naira can quickly fall to 480 if the government resumes the sale of dollars to the BDC. Unfortunately, that ban of sales of dollars to the BDC may not be rescinded after the CBN accused the BDC operators of selling dollars to terrorists. It is the ban of sale to them that started this crisis as it led to artificial scarcity in the market. To purchase dollars from the BDC is instant, while through the banks takes weeks, leading to artificial scarcity. Emefiele ha shot himself in the foot. |

AbokiFX is not the reason for Naira slump. There is a global slump in the major stock markets currently due to the Chinese real estate giant Evergrande entering into default. The investors are diverting their resources into safe-haven currencies like USD and JPY right now. As we speak, Dollar is rising against major world currencies right now: GBP, EUR, CAD, AUD and NZD. So I think this might be affecting the Naira exchange rate to Dollar too. |
