Why Do Nigerian Tribes Hate Each Other But Refuse To Divide? by VaselineCrew: 1:36am On Oct 08, 2021
All day on this forum, one can witness the hate Nigerian tribes have for each other, so why don’t we all just split amicably?

I’ve never seen where you hate someone so much, yet choose to remain in contact with such a person.

Isn’t it common sense?

Or am I missing something?

There is no day, igbos, Yorubas , Hausas... don’t get insulted here, some even wish for the death of the whole tribe.

So you would rather eradicate a whole tribe than have them leave you?

I don’t understand the logic.

It's narcissism. A lot of Nigerians are narcissistic and need someone they can abuse and control. They need that narcissistic supply hence why. If that was not the case, they would have split amicably since.

The Biafrans want out.
Many of the Oduduwans want out.

However, the issue lies a few key truths that many, by merely hearing it, will have a heart attack:

1) Fulani dominated leaders and their puppets provide little to the collective yield of Nigeria. Resources, education, entertainment, sports etc. The break will affect them alot. Hence why they are fighting it.

2) Nigeria is unimaginably corrupt, evil and guilty. Under this guise of enormous corruption and evil, some people get away with things they imagine are lesser crimes. Like saying " Snake swallowed billions". When the country breaks, there'll be a new leaf and every case will be handled differently.

3) Nigeria has not atoned for its sins. In fact, they commit more. Many have been killed since 1960 with no justice.

4) There is a fulani agenda to conquer the whole region.

There are more, but the above is the reason this country cannot continue. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop.

Igbos are ready to move on from this contraption and chart their own course.

This thread should be directed to other southerners, middlebelt and North.

Igbos are not scared of being on their own as long as they have full control of their destiny.

Other Nigerians show up here everyday to spew hatred towards the Igbos but those same Nigerians hate to see Igbos leave.

They celebrate anything bad that happens to IPOB instead of them supporting IPOB to allow the same Igbos that they hate so much to leave.

If Hausa and fulani says they want to secede tomorrow no lgbo man will beg them or start preaching the consequences of secession

If yorubas say they want to secede tomorrow, no lgbo man will beg them or start preaching the consequences of secession

If middle belt says they want to secede tomorrow no lgbo man will beg them or start preaching the consequences of secession

If niger delta wants to secede tomorrow no lgbo man will beg them or start preaching the consequences of secession

But once lgbos says they want to secede every hausa, fulani, yoruba, middle belt, niger delta will start begging, threatening, opening countless threads, wailing, preaching the consequences of secession.

That tells you which tribe is the most important in Nigeria

Refuse to divide? That's a lie

1.Because division is unrealistic at the moment (note, I am not saying that your agitation for independence is evil..so don't go there).

Nigeria relies mostly on oil revenues, and apart from that we haven't developed our other mineral and agric resources in some time (and even if we did, it does not necessarily add money)...plus, most parts of Nigeria don't have industries that can earn adequate amount of the dollars and pounds (unlike Czechoslovakia, which could split up easy)..so if there is a breakup...most of the new countries would be severely indebted.

2.The minority tribes of this country won't allow it. A split would be against their interests...because it would open them to exploitation and conquest and domination by the big tribes. That's why the middle belt does not want to be part of 'Arewa' nor does the South south want to join Biafra.

3.Splitting the country would be harmful to the commercial interests of this country, and not just big men like Dangote. For instance, a lot of business is conducted across this country..across tribes and regions .Put a border across the divsions...and you get things like tarrifs...and you get high prices.

Right now, the South is not self sufficent in food. A split would force the SOuth to become even more of a net importer of food...draining the forex reserves...and leading to high prices for food and inflation.

4.Where do we draw the lines of separation? No one has been able to answer that quesiton (and please, don't say 'old regions'...those old regions are just as contraptions as Nigeria is). Plus we have a lot of minority tribes ...who dont' want to be lumped with the majority tribes...

And don't suggest the India-Pakistan solution...that led to millions dead, and millions displaced...and still creates a lot of issues up till now.

5.Finally, the cries for separation are just cries for more and more money. Nigerian states are financially insolvent...and so don't want to tax the vast majority of their people. There is a reason why many Ibos want Biafra...and it is because they would have all the oil revenue to themselves.

Again the cries for separation are also more of 'If we can't have power/control of the sharing of the national cake, we'll break things up' Either way, the end resout is simple...more concessions from the center...more money

Which at the end of the day is what it is really all about.

P.S..Most of the agitations for separation come from big tribes. Not the small tribes.

P.S..Most of the agitations for separation come from big tribes. Not the small tribes.

none of them made any sense.

Point number 1
you said nigeria mostly relies on oil and hasn't diversified its economy so whose fault is it? Hasnt Nigeria had 60 years to diversify its economy? You said division is unrealistic as if there is ever a good time to divide. Division always happens no matter what those with vested interests think. So if Igbos for example want to go and have their nation, they must wait for everyone to develop their industries first? Does that make any sense to you?

Point number 2
The minority tribes in the north are currently being killed in the North. Their populations are being wiped out as we speak and you are here talking about nonsense domination. In fact a middle belt republic would better protect them than the massacre that they are currently facing in Nigeria.
As for south south, igbos of this generation are more than happy to have them form their own nation as they choose, The only thing that we ask of them is to not touch a single Igbo territory in the so called south south. We have the Opobos, ubani, obigbo, Enuanis and other igbos of the south south region.

As of today, minorities in nigeria are already being exploited and taken advantage of. A nation of their own would actually protect them and give them better negotiating terms for their lands and resources.

Point number 3
False, there are people doing cross border trade, business and transactions all the time all over the world. Tariff can be negotiated among the new nations. This is done all the time. Those doing business in other countries will have to abide by the laws of the new nation and pay whatever business taxes required of them.

As for food, the north doesn't produce that much food as you think. Go to any fresh market in the East for example and you will notice that most of the food is grown locally. The North has one of the highest malnutrition in the world.

Point number 4
Very simple. You draw the lines of separation based on referendum. The referendum will be held at contested areas where the people will vote which country that they want to be part of.

Point number 5
This point of certain tribes wanting separation because of oil is a stupid one. Oil is going the way a coal and any nation hoping to build a future with it is already dead including Nigeria. Igbos just want their own nation because they have given Nigeria more than enough chance to change for the better but it has gotten worse. Igbos believe in themselves and their ability to build a developed nation.

And yes big tribes are calling for separation but so are small tribes for example TIV, Ibom, Oron, Ijaws.

Partition of India violence was more like an Indian civil war than a solution.

British divided the country so that united India doesn't become another threat to western imperialist powers like Soviet Union, China and Japan became.
India was a cut to a smaller size and always busy fighting Pakistan.
