Nigeria is a country you are good at something and people do not like you for that.

If we want to go on pure merit, Rohr cannot compete with Amunike in coaching.

Osimhen: I attribute half of my success to Amunike… he taught me discipline

“I would rewind back to when I joined the Under-17, when I first went to the camp, in my own mentality I felt the coach didn’t like me, I don’t know why but for me I thought he didn’t like me or something like that.

“Every time he would speak to me he would yell at me, on the pitch he would do so many things to me but for me I thought he was making me to suffer or something like that. So there was a time when I wanted to leave the camp. I spoke to the coordinator and he told me to be calm and be patient that the coach knows what he’s doing,” he said.

“For me I think when you have chosen this path you have to be disciplined. Discipline is the first thing, whether you have a coach or you don’t have a coach guiding you, I think discipline is the first thing, and I’m really happy I went through coach Emmanuel Amuneke.

“Everything I am today, everything I would be in the future, I attribute almost half of my success to him, whatever I’ve achieved he really set my path, he really makes me to understand that life is not all about talent, you have to work hard, be disciplined and listen to the coach’s instruction, either on the pitch or off the pitch. I think other players that played under him can testify, not just me.”

Even if People fail to admit the impact of Amunike in his short spell in the U17, I will always remember and can't wait for when he will take over the Super Eagles.

Thank you sir. You gave me joy as a player and you are doing the same as a coach.

we can only go back and forth on that, there’s no definite evidence to back up that claim. My own is when the NFF want to replace the German they should get the best and not get emotional by willingly giving the job to an ex international

Former Super Eagles assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke has opened up on the challenges the Golden Eaglets went through before their victory at the U-17 World Cup in Chile in 2015.

Amuneke led the Eaglets to their fifth U-17 victory to become the most successful team at the tournament ahead of Brazil, who have won the title four times.

Speaking on PUNCH Online interview programme, Kick&Follow, where football stars discuss topical issues in Nigerian football, the former Tanzania national team coach revealed that his team left the shores of the country without proper kits for the tournament.

“I knew what I went through with the U-17 at the World Cup we went to in Chile but I am somebody who doesn’t come out to blame others for his failures.

“We went to the World Cup in Chile without kits but we were able to manage the whole scenario.

“As a coach and leader, it is never my way to transmit negative thoughts to my players. We got to Chile and we didn’t even have winter shirts and it was very cold. I was very worried as a coach because if the players got sick how do we get the job done.

"Luckily from the embassy they brought in some clothes for the players to at least have something to keep them warm. The boys kept training because they were determined.

Nobody believed that we were going to win; some even said the players were not good enough.

“We left Nigeria wearing slippers and at the airport, I remembered an immigration officer asked if these were the players representing Nigeria. Things were worse in Chile because there were no cloth to keep us warm and it was very cold and I asked what we were going to do.

“The money that FIFA gave the players which was $100 each, I collected it from the players with the team secretary and we bought some clothes for the players to keep them warm because that was the only thing we could do as at that time.

“But I wore just a t-shirt and if you check all the pictures in training during the tournament I wore just a green and black shirt under the cold weather because I had to transmit confidence into the players.”

He added, “The players even came to tell me before our game against Brazil that the Brazilians were laughing at them because they were not dressed properly. I said to them that they had to laugh at them on the pitch the next day and the only way they can do that is by beating them.”

That is Nigeria for you. When you are good, people will spend their time sabotaging the team.

Even after they won the U17 Cup, this was the first U17 set not rewarded.

Time for them to play a crucial qualifiers, they took them to a waterlogged pitch during rainy season to sabotage.

Thank you Amunike and your warrior boys. I will always tell your stories. I hope you all fly soon.

What CV is better than passion, Sacrifice and talent.

Tell me how Rohr is tactically better when you guys are up and down screaming for a tactician to support Rohr.

In your statement, you literally said nothing, that is why you had to pay it with you want to hear word.

Very simple brief, Amunike played and trained under the La Masia tactical system. A coach with versed knowledge of the most superior tactical art in the game today.

Despite that, Amunike kept building his tactical knowledge with repeated courses.

There is a reason why FIFA made him one of the members of their technical committee for the growth of football.

Even Rohr knows he is not Amunike's mate tactics.

Oga Joe, I no say nobody fit win una for argument but you made some grand statements not backed up by data or facts. Saying Rohr knows he is not Amunike's mate in tactics isn't a fact sir. Yes he has attended training courses and had some successes but I don't think he has a better cv than Rohr at this moment. Could he, of course he can and I am rooting for him to achieve a lot more as a coach.

Instead he preferred ekwueke and odunlami cheesy

Otigba was a starter at heereveen and even voiced his intentions to play for Nigeria then never got a chance but nwofor who was a regular in the same clubs team B made it to the World Cup
The same Keshi handed invites to Leon and Ekong. That said, am not exonerating Keshi from questionable dealings. Chukwu, Amodu and Eguavoen however called up our best legs in Europe, did they know how to use them appropriately, that's another question.

I tell u

Ever since i saw how amuneke allow the quest for money to come before the success he would achieve in under20 football..... i just get angry

I understand he truly deserve his pay and not to owned he was few minutes away to hitting limelight with that team dude allowed the players to strike and start asking for money owned and before they knew it Sudan whipped their arse
I won't blame Amuneke for the action he took then. NFF can be cruel when they want to be, look at what they did to Siasia's U23 team multiple times especially at the Rio games. Amuneke also said his own U17 boys wore slippers to travel for their own and the boys weren't even given kits to keep them warm. I won't be surprised if Amunike, and co are still owed monies from the times they played!!!!! Humilty I agree with you, we dey wicked for 9ja, greed here is on another level!!!! Even women are not left out.

Ideye wasn't really one of the main men in the national team then. Plus his club form wasn't exactly earth shattering during that period. Ighalo was coming up during that time so Ideye making way wasn't really controversial if you ask me.

He was destroying Greece. His going to China ended his club career. He didn't kick on like Ighalo and ended up playing for the reserve team.

CV is not tactics.

Sir Alex Ferguson had an impressive CV. Long before Johann Cruyff brought Guardiola into the starting line up of Barcelona.

By the time Guardiola was taking over the coaching duties of Barcelona, it was clear he was far ahead of Alex Ferguson tactically. So it is not CV.

By the time they met in the Champions League final in 2009, Guardiola gave Alex Ferguson a fulll tactical lesson in modern day football.

So don't use CV as point for tactical argument.

PS: I hold nothing against Amunike but I will only rate him when he prooves that he his a good tactician at a decent level. For now he hasn't done ENOUGH for anyone to conclude that he is a good tactician

Golden Eaglets’ tactics confounds FIFA Study Group

Emmanuel Amuneke came to the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup as one of the rookies in the coaching business, but the former Barcelona star has been able to confound even the ‘experts’ in the game with his unorthodox tactics that has made everybody to sit up and take notes.

After Sunday’s 3-0n defeat of Brazil, the FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG) saddled with the responsibility of ‘monitoring international matches and identifying latest footballing trends’ applauded the tactical savvy of Coach Amuneke for the ease with which they dispatched the Samba Boys.

Desmond (Desi) Curry, a member of the TSG, had sought out Amuneke ahead of their trumping of the A Selecao of Brazil at the Estadio Sausalito to explain briefly his seemingly obstructive tactics which have confounded opposing teams at this tournament.

The team, according to TSG’s elderly man from Northern Ireland, has brought to bear a new trend with varied styles and deployment of players when ‘having or not having the ball,’ hence the need for clarification.
“Sincerely, we (TSG panel) have tried to understand the tactics you are using but it is confusing,” Curry told Amuneke
matter-of-factly.

“I have done some of your matches here but it is unusual to see a Number 10 (Kelechi Nwakali) playing deep as much as we have seen your player here.

“This is a new trend and we are going to include some of your explanations in the Technical Report of the championship because the tactical approach of your team stands out,” he noted.

https://guardian.ng/sport/golden-eaglets-tactics-confounds-fifa-study-group/

That is, FIFA Technical experts had to consult Amunike to help them understand his tactics. It was extraordinary and confusing.

As I said, he is up there tactically with Guardiola and Enrique and you are talking of Rohr.

How can you call Koeman a crap manager. Did you watch his Ajax team with Sneijder, Van Der Vaart, Zlatan and Steven Pienaar.

Having a difficult time is normal in football but that does not make a tactician crap.

Diego Simeone got River Plate relegated. Does that make him crap. Your tactical history is a testament.

If there’s any local coach that deserves any form of praise it is Samson Siasia, he has done soooo much for our football. He showed us 2005 wasn’t a fluke by doing it again in 2008 and 2016. Amunike couldn’t even qualify us for the African U-20 tourney by losing to Sudan in Nigeria, how is that different from Rohr loosing to car?

Amunike was sabotaged all through. It is people that don't go into the details that will scream did not qualify. Amunike went through hell from U17 to U20. Being owed, no welfare for players etc.

He built the team for years on a passing football ground and then the NFF took them to a poor pitch during the rainy season to sabotage him.

So people like you can write he did not qualify.

Those who knows the impact of that man will not talk like this. That team played over 50 games, almost winning all and lost one. Leave Amunike is too much whether you like it or not.

Deboer is the crap Koeman is average, I know all about Koeman and the only reason he got the Barca job is because ‘former player’ and the only reason he hasn’t been fired is because sapa hold Barca. No sensible big club will hire him, do you think it’s by coincidence his previous two clubs are Everton and Southampton where he was sacked after dreadful results ?
