What sort of help? You don't own a domain, you listed it and now, it got sold, you want to rip where you didn't sew.

Now, judge yourself.

Drop the domain name let's see.

This is pure SCAM.
But let me assume you didn't know that is what you were up to. However the saying " ignorance of the law is not an excuse" still remains valid.

This action of yours could lead to Domain marketplaces adding new rules for listing names and/or admitting Sellers into their platform.

For you to have ”sold it" and now the marketplace will be forced to make a refund of the money the buyer has already paid, who will bear the cost of bank charges both for initial payment and reversal? TOO BAD.

Don't seat quiet leaving the buyer and broker waiting for a completion that would never happen. Write them and apologize that you typed that name in error as it is similar to the one you sold a few weeks ago via another broker. I hope this could help resolve such a shameful impasse especially for the broker.

Good but he will still be lying talking about a sale by a broker that never happened. He should come clean and naked. Tell them he is a newbie and experimenting. That he's deeply sorry and regrets his actions. Another thing is accepting an offer when you know you don't have any name. When he knows he's just playing. This is both stupid and annoying and will affect reputation.

Ofcom asks phone networks to block foreign scam calls.

Major phone networks have agreed to automatically block almost all internet calls coming from abroad if they pretend to be from UK numbers, Ofcom has confirmed.

Good day all,
Please I need some help, I recently had my first sale on Dan and I have been asked to update my account so the money could be transferred, but I do not have a Dom account. Can I use a friend's account or what other options do I have?

You can use a friend's dom account but not really advisable. When money drops, story might follow and issues arise.

Initiate your crypto account. Message Dan support, opt for BTC payment. The requirements will be sent. It's easy that way because you friends won't poke into your money or transactions.

You don't need a dom account. Put your normal account with other details like Swift Code and Address. It will land in your account.

This is fraudulent! No cap! Do you want to spoil the business for us? If they ask you to read from page 1, you would think someone is being selfish. Now look at you. You think the sales report here is magic or luck?

I will not insult you. You don't know how to check for available domains But you know how to sell name and was waiting to be paid for what you had never owned. I am wordless.

You want to spoil this business for us not so? The restrictions against Nigerians online is not enough for you, you want to add domaining to it right? You're a fraudster and you should ensure you let Dan know. I hope your account is blocked. Nonsense.

The most annoying thing is you thinking that accepting an offer for a domain you don't own and selling it is "Fortunate"

He has already told too many lies. If another lie will give the larger community of domainers a safe landing, good.
You suggest he should say he is "experimenting" which is a big lie. You didn't go to buy product for sale, then you start advertising till someone offered to buy it and you still continue experimenting to point of accepting payment. But for escrow the money would have been in your back pocket. Too Bad

What if he's asked to provide the name he claims to have sold that is similar to this? If he wasn't experimenting as he said, then he should be honest with them.

And I don't think he planned to game them. He is too uninformed to try to beat the system. He was just too lazy to learn or ask for guidance and acted based on things he doesn't understand. Let him go to Dan clean.

It is possible BUT not advisable because no matter how you trust the person it could bring complications in the payment process. Instead just you and Dan in the loop, there is now a 3rd person. So assume the fund gets to his account and he doesn't see the alert or the fund is wiped out by outstanding negative debit, as such your friend tells you honestly that the fund has arrived and you go back to Dan and say they haven't paid. Who is wrong?

You can try giving your naira account details. If Dan accepts that you will be shooting your self in the leg as you get paid based on about N410 exchange rate instead of about N570.

I believe GTB will open a Dom account without demanding deposit. First bank will demand $100 . It even makes sense to borrow to quickly open the account. You collect your dollars cash and enjoy a better exch rate

Let's profer a workable solution that won't later hunt domainers in Africa especially Nigeria.

The guy really f-up.

Anchorage Home Inspection was directed to Dan but not listed on Dan and we might have lot of domain names like that.

You know a domain is unavailable when you put the name in the search bar of a registrar ( Sav, Namesilo, GoDaddy, Porkbun, etc) and they display a result that "This Name is Taken/ Not Available.

DAN is a pure marketplace, though a company like GoDaddy is both registrar and marketplace/broker but you can't mix up which activity you are doing even when you are on GoDaddy platform.

But what you did had nothing to do with your ignorance. The name you received email offer and subsequently acceptable money for, did you buy it and how much. There's a saying that " You don't give what you don't have"

EXACTLY!!!
Not only 9ja. This can impact all domainers.

Yesterday, Sunday, I was adding names to my Dan account when one was rejected. I shot them a mail and less than 15 minutes they responded that they will remove any previous entry of the name on the platform and add the name to my account. Surprisingly, I wasn't even asked to prove my ownership. Now with this type of behaviour from a supposed Domainer, simple processes will become more bureaucratic.

I am almost certain, he won't be asked for such proof. And per adventure the buyer is interested in taking a similar name, that is why I said it's already sold. Bottom line is he is informing them the name is no longer available.
But I feel it's only natural to add a "reason" after saying the name is no longer available.

So over to you: Give him a good reason that doesn't suggest that he is an i.d.i.o.t

First, I doubt he's going to take our advice. I think he will run and not respond to Dan and this itself will lead to digging and a grave consequence for him and possibly innocent people.

I think he just needs to show them how idiotic he's been and maybe they'd give him a lighter punishment.

I go for him narrating to them how it all started and how he got into the hole he dumbly jumped into.

That's what he will do if his intentions, to begin with, were not criminal.

If he is not innocent, do you think he will follow our advice? Which true thief will care about making others look bad?
