The entire New Owerri is awesome. Bank road, Okigwe road, Orlu road, Ikenegbu layout, Amakohia, World bank etc. are all beautiful. In fact, I don't think there is any area in Owerri that can actually be called a shit hole by Nigerian standard except some roads that are bad.

Orlu, your Owerri and Okigwe are the 3 urban centers in Imo state - official, beginning from the day present Imo state started. Any modern development in Owerri is supposed to have been in Orlu if we have had good administrators in Imo state.


Colonial masters started urban development in Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe the same time when the Ogbakus and Ikedurus were mere villages.

It may interest you to know that the reason most people speak ill of the city is just because of differing political views. And forgetting that this governors irrespective of party lines are the same. Some appear like angels initially and turn into something else later. And that's part of the reasons the black people are poor(not necessarily lack of cash). They don't encourage ingenuity. They(Nigerians especially) do not see another path to collective prosperity asides oil money and federal allocation.

It's not that imo state have been producing governors from owerri zone in the last decade.
All are from orlu and okigwe (ohakim). Correct me if I'm wrong. So the people have nothing to do with it. Like I said earlier, once a governor in Nigeria sets out his mind to do something, he will achieve it(especially if it has to do with development).
Therefore, I make strong my case that most people speak ill because of political differences. Previous comments on nairaland have pointed to that .


Guide: how you will know that it is political is this; they will tell you a road is bad. But they won't tell you that construction is ongoing on those roads.

Even people praising ohakim now for his clean and green initiative have now suddenly forgotten how he was heavily criticized. How the only thing he could achieve was planting flowers. Like I said before. Beauty of a state is not one sided. There are aggregated factors that contribute to total beauty of a state not just good roads.

First criteria is an organized/grid system that gives you a platform to
a) tar mapped out roads as much as possible. with sidewalks and closed drainages
b) Land scaping

Second is quality of structures (both residential and commercial)

The south east cities are generally beautiful and organized. That some sub components of the first criteria is ongoing, doesn't take away the beauty.

There are lots of wrong assumptions here.
One Abia state has very huge support for IPOB, I have witnessed it firsthand and recently.
Orlu might not be big but its still urban.
Three those local governments you mentioned make up Aba`naOhanze, making it one city. So they might not be in Aba LGA but they are one metropolis.

And honestly it does us no good to measure dick size.
