Chairman check if the electrical part of the car is working well. Mine the silencer was still dropping water so I was excited. When I got home the wiper was bad, the light was initially dim so couldn't drive at night, the battery was bad, the kick had an issue, d key shred into pieces so I could start d car sef then, the window control needed to be changed, d container holding d transmission oil was broken so if u fill the transmission level up it will leak. When I worked on these minor things finish I realized its not just sound engine. Right now I still need cash to put d car d way I want it. Naija I hail thee. And also check d papers of the car before paying. Theres a dude on this forum that almost duped me he's still prowling around. We test drove the car and I really liked it, he then asked me to do a direct transfer to his account which I decline and said i'll come the next day with a mechanic. Next day asked him hope d papers were ready and he said d original papers are missing and no photocopy. He said he went to do an affidavit and a police cover for the car. Brothers I told him I wanted to see the avidavit and police extract na so the guy said he'll call me, it's 3months now he has not called, but he's still advertising d car. Imagine people who would have transferred money to him I excitement.

Oga op if u want to gist us, gist us wella.
Ur hiding d most important thing. How much did u buy the car + the amount spend
That willl determine if its worth it or not.

The op is not asking for your opinion as to whether the car was worth buying or not.

The op has accepted his fate and has made the best out of it.

The op only wants everyone to learn from his lessons. Always double-check a used car before paying for it. Never allow sentiments over-ride you. If the seller says you cant test-drive for long because of fuel shortage, by all means offer to buy some fuel say 10 litres. Dont rely so much on pictures because they could deceive. Physically go for inspection and if you are a green-horn in car matters, carry someone more experienced along.

And if you can afford it, please settle for a brand new car.

Sir, it is your responsiblity as a member of this forum to ensure that the seller in question does not defraud someone else on this forum who may be inexperienced in car matters. Please narrate your experience and the name of the seller or the sake of his potential victims.

Thanks

Your initial post smells of scam.Your foolishness knows no bounds. I cant even fall victim of your cheap scam. My advise to you is this, go and get a real job/learn a skill/trade to keep busy and earn a honest life. It pays more better than being a fraud.

Well got my first car from a guy here on nairaland.
Had to go all the way to Awka from PH to get it.
I can't remember spending a dime on repairs. That's the truth. I just got there, saw the car to be sure its as listed checked the papers and paid straight up.
Headed back to PH that sane night.
His user name is nnammdi or something like that.
Cool guy. I been dey fear to go as I didn't trust Igbo guys, but I as a mechanical engineer myself, once the checks passed I'm good to go.

good for you. that's about 200k. if it's worth it then fine. by neighbour got a freelander like that .It took him 6 months plus for the ride to make sense. after the travail, the guy wan sell the car.
people should do a little bit more research on vehicles they intend to buy, that freelancer was intended to be a joint venture with Honda, but Honda pulled out an rover proceeded to build the worst car in the world and Honda built the CR-V,if you ever bought the freelander with the original engine what you bought is high blood pressure and stroke combined.

Oh My Goodness! How did you come across this thread lol. It's been over 6 years lol. 10/10/2015 haha smiley

I only used the ride from October 2015 till May 2016 - I relocated to the United States in May 2016. But the ride was solid bro, I'll be honest with you, I just bought exact Make, Model and Year for my Older brother in July 2021. Because it was his first car, he had an accident last month and ran the car into a fence, bro - Nothing do that motor, I mean even the paint no scratch.

Was it worth it - YES, tbh - I can buy it again. That Camry no dey die ooo. I had an accident the day I sold the car in May 2016, the guy still buy am at my asking price.

Complex issues erupted? - Nope (Just the steering if I could remember)
