Exactly. Our style has never been tiki taka. I laugh when people say we play like the Dutch. I don't understand that scene of illusion.
Our game have always been physical, rugged, power play and speed. Europeans and South Americans always dreed playing us because of our physicality.

It's only Nigerians that think we play like the Dutch.
South Africa, Ghana and Morroco play the closest system to tiki take or Dutch football not Nigeria.

Sneaked in this two like we won't notice grin

We have never played like Spain and we are not Cameroon that only rely on muscle, pace and power. A typical Nigeria team aims to win but with style and panache. We're not Cameroon or Senegal that aim to beat or crush you into submission.

Why do you think we thrived under Dutch managers?

Very boring style of play. I stopped watching Guardiola’s Barcelona at some point except against Chelsea.

Those coaches play direct football and rely much on wing play. This is were you need fast and skillful wingers.

Tiki Taka will limit our players that are fast and direct.

We don’t need it.

Linus mbappe like you

Guardiola Barcelona that was the most entertaining team then is what you called boring

You only stopped watching them because they use to disgrace almost all the teams they play against and you don’t want them to win grin

I am not saying we should play tiki taka ,but can you please stop saying it will limit our players ,what has our so called fast Wingers been doing without tiki taka ?

Our game has never been physical and rugged. Do you remember when Nigerian fans scream, eh he, eh he, eh he during passing. It came from our style over the years. Why do you think the likes of Finidi, Kanu, Oliseh could easily blend with Ajax?

Over the years, we lost a lot of games in the 80s there was this statement that we played all the game and lost to Cameroon.

Our game has never been about ruggedity.

Which players were rugged?

By what name again would you call Physicality, ruggedness, power play?

Amokachi had small skill, Amuneke and Siasia too. Plus to balance we had Okocha, Finidi, Kanu, Ikpeba to balance out the attributes you mentioned
forgiveness:

Where did I mention muscle and power?

Dan the Bull, Eguavoen, Iroha, Yekini, Siasia, Mutiu, Amuneke etc had all the features I mentioned earlier.

it was this same interference that enables Rohr to continue as coach, after failing to reach WC target, and the Nff wanted to let him go,

Dare put mouth, even promised the ministry will take up his salary
As long as NFF cannot provide for itself, the interference will continue. They need to become financially independent first.

Think of if like this. A pretty girl continues a romantic relationship with a guy, so he can spend money on her endlessly. But the girl says no s**. It doesn't really work that way right? wink

Nigeria has always been a team that play and have the crowd screaming.

We played with speedy and good dribblers on the flanks. Those dribblers wow the crowd, not tiki taka.
This acclaimed Dutch system has lead majority of Nigerians astray with false idea of how we really play the game.
If you notice, we don't produce defenders with sublime ball playing skills. Taribo, Okechukwu, Yobo, Okoronkwo etc were never ball playing defenders.

How do you play total football without ball playing center backs?

Oliseh was as strong and physical as they come. He got a lot of cards and was a renouned bad boy during his playing days.
Do you really understand what physical means? I hope you know, you can be physical and skillful at the same time?

When some of us say we play like the Dutch we are talking about attacking play from the wings, backed by a creative midfield and fullbacks who overlap occasionally. Dutch style is not necessarily tiki taka but what I would call an attractive direct style making use of skill and creativity to open up your opponents. Whereas tiki taka simply put is passing your adversary to death.

Yes we are physical and rugged but there's a lot of sublime skill and creativity in that mix. Watch Bonfere and Siasia teams then you will understand what I mean.

The Dutch style is pure total football. Where everybody is confortable on the ball. They rely more on technicality than physical strength and power.

What kind of funny talk is that?

What do you mean Guardiola abandoned tiki taka. It remains the foundation of it. There would be other variation to it but the possessive philosophy remains critical.

Look below at our last match below against Everton. Look at the possession of who you said abandoned tiki taka.

What philosophy is Klopp? Is it not possessive football?

Is Guardiola playing the same way he played in Barcelona?

Oliseh was def in skill and passing. Just like Fernandinho does the hard game to break when we lose the ball but we dominate the game for a long time and Fernandinho is a big part of our passing game. Does that mean it makes the team physical?

What about Rodri? Will you say he is a physical player because of his defensive contributions?

It is the philosophy. The possessive game. The Rondos training and the infusion of the principles into the game.

It has variants but the essential principles stand. Guardiola never abandoned it. Try and watch Manchester City matches and see how much short passes we make.
