The Imo State Government has condemned the crisis in Awo-Omamma in Oru East Local Government Area of the state which claimed the life of a soldier on Monday. ABACITYBLOG reported that unknown gunmen enforcing the sit-at-home order had engaged in a gun duel with soldiers on duty, the confrontation, however, took the life of an army officer. Avenging their colleague’s death, the soldiers reportedly set ablaze houses and shops on fire while in search of the gunmen. Reacting in a statement issued by the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said the crisis was “regrettable and avoidable”. The commissioner said that the slain soldier was on a legitimate duty when he was murdered. The full statement read; “Imo State Government is shocked and dismayed over the events of yesterday in Awommamma in Oru East local government area of the state. The ugly event is regrettable and avoidable.

“Government condemns the murder of a soldier by the so called unknown gunmen. Certainly, this soldier who was on a legitimate duty to ensure free flow of traffic and to protect lives and property on this fafeful Monday of November 22nd, did not deserve to die such a gruesome death. “On the other hand, Government deprecates reports of wanton destruction of property visited on the community by aggrieved soldiers. The indiscriminate burning of residential and businesses premises of innocent citizens was not an appropriate response since two wrongs will never make a right. Government has good reasons to believe that there is more to the sad event than meets the eyes.

Hope Uzodinma, you sold your soul to this hateful buhari government. Now, your people are being killed and properties destroyed in your state. I hope you are happy. You forget there is life after being a governor.

He is now Uzodinjo and hopeless for acknowledging the atrocities committed by Nigerian army instead of lying and blaming it on innocent people or unknown gunmen like before?

Only a terrorist, a unity begging terrorist, will prefer to hide several incidents of massacre and destruction of property by Nigerian Fulani Boko Haram soldiers just in a bid to justify his N30k ($70 per month) salary as a propagandist at Buhari Media Center.

You are a good example of an unreasonable man, so soldiers who are supposed to protect the citizens from unknown gunmen , did the right thing by killing and burning people alive in their own homes.
You are mad.

The soldiers who can't defend themselves should leave innocent villagers alone , Nigeria soldiers should be up and running and not venting their professional frustration on innocent people's property

Since you became governor of IMO, our dear IMO hasn’t not had peace. Owerri that used to be the centre of enjoyment for all of us in the East has become a place where everyone needs to be home before 10pm.

Supreme Court governor, leave IMO state alone.

I do not think that even Okorocha would have followed that path of Uzodimma in handling the security issues in Imo state.

The governor took sides with the FG against his own people and now soldiers deliberately destroy palaces and businesses of people in Imo state.

I sincerely hope that with their voters card Imo people can make the correction in the next election. If he likes let him go beyond the Supreme Court, he will be roundly defeated.

So Hope Uzodinma can actually speak the truth like this? Same allegation the army denied vehemently ystdy?

Thought the supreme court iberiberism governor invited the army to maim, destroy & kill your people. Now the soldiers have done maximum damages in Imo state. The evil you do lives with you.

Same Nigerian soldiers destroying properties they are meant to protect.

Things indeed fall apart in this useless failed contraption called Nigeria.

How will those who’s properties got burnt get justice, so they should just accept their fate that’s what they get for being a Nigerian.

How can a country like Nigeria know peace or progress

Re: Aggrieved Nigerian Soldiers Burnt Down People's Houses, Shops - Hope Uzodimma by stanluiz(m): 8:11am On Nov 24, 2021
The soldiers did it because they know the governor is a supreme Court governor that was imposed by the FG against the wishes of the people.

If Okorocha was the governor. Imo state wouldn't have denigrated to this level. Okorocha knows how to speak and calm tension even though he is an APC governor.

Every thing about Uzodima is opposite. The man is anti- people from the day one he was imposed by the supreme Court as the governor of Imo state.

He should not border to campaign in 2023 because he is going back to where he come from.

Thats why northern politicians are million miles ahead of the southern politicians..

When SE chief of army staff was routing BH, the northern elders went to Washington claiming that he was revenging the civil war by destroying the north. They also said Nigeria will boil if the north didn't get the presidency.

Now why can't the SE leaders also do the same...as it appears the northern army are destroying the east?

The south is no match to the north in politics, selfishness and perpetual GREED.

It is for this weak leadership in the south that the people look up to IPOB.

Your sensational header does nothing tally with the body of the article. The state government was reacting to “reports” but didn’t confirm the reports are true.
