If found guilty of torturing Sylvester Oromoni, the 12 year old student of Dowen College, Lekki to death, what will happen to the affected students since they are minors and not up to 18?

They will face a trial in camera and if found guilty, they will go to juvenile prison.

They should be given same sentence as Murderers.

If you're old enough to kill someone, you should be old enough to bear the consequences.

I think that the burden of the responsibility would be on anyone acting in loco parentis (in parental position). If they did it while at home, their parents would have been the ones to hold responsible. But, now that they did it while at a boarding school, the school managers are to be held responsible.

A case in point relates to the minor involved in the recent school shooting in Michigan, USA. His parents have been arrested because he came to school from his home with the gun on the day of the shooting.

The Nigerian democratic system is largely copied from the US. This includes the legal system. So, the provisions of the law are basically the same in both countries.

If this gets to court, it will be adjourned for almost 5yrs untill the deceased parent gets broke and by then, everyone must have moved on to something new...And the matter go enter under carpet go rest...

Just like Chidinma that killed somebody, who is now a VIP in prison... Before we know it, we're already moving on...

I have thought about this also. They will be put them in juvenile delinquent homes abi wetin they dey call them while some or the person that spearhead the beating will still graduate to kirikiri but if person mistakenly catch any of those pikin them outside 4get am na jungle justice straight.
