This is a very good thread, please II would appreciate if a thread for Electrical technicians, electricians, technologist, field electrical tech e.t.c is created. It help us to connect, network, share ideas. And those who are more established in the field can request for people who are willing to do jonny-man for them, or thos who might want to train people for free can as well do so. And even more

Wow! What a coincidence. I've been thinking of learning plumbing lately. Is pipe fitting different from plumbing? I want to be enlightened.

By DORC, I believe you mean Dangote oil refining company. 210000 looks too small for a professional pipe fitter in the oil and gas sector, But since it's filled with indians and Chinese coys, I won't be surprised.

I know that basic knowledge of mathematics/trigonometry is needed as a pipe fitter for calculating the rolling angle when it's not shown in the drawing, calculating elbow take off, cutting of RPads for branch connections, etc..

Let me digress a bit..
When is the refinery starting operations,

I am head of Administration in a construction company, my pipe fitters earn between 450k-500k and welders earn over 400k - 600k. These humans are the most uncultured beings.

Man, where were you groomed?

I'm in training at the moment , but I feel the curriculum is a little inadequate to address modern Pipefitting needs and concerns.

Can you help with links to any new-day study materials?
Is there a place I can garner practical experience in Lagos ; at no cost to the company?

When vacancies exist, you can apply and get a job. We demobilized 3weeks ago from a project and we may be starting up another project next year.

Pipefitter:
One of the major challenges of this job is exposure to fumes from welders.
Pipefitters work in tandem with welders and as such basic PPE should be mandatory at all times to limit the inhalation of toxic fumes.

Ofcourse, there are other challenges working at height (especially for those that have the phobia) shattering of discs and so on but the good news is that there are equipments in place to protect the fitter and those working with him.

The worst I have experienced is arc eye, when I started off but majorly now is having no time for myself cry

Cc Wang1tang
Same same baba, no problem. I am also a pipe fitter with years of experience. I work with OILFZE.
