Hello Nairalanders and compliment of the season.

I took a picture of this reptile on my fence some afternoon ago. Please what is it called and how dangerous is it?

Iguana.. I ate a lot of it back in Tungbo, Bayelsa. Tastes like chicken.

Monitor Lizard.
It's everywhere in riverine areas.

I've seen a couple of them across my fence.
And I find them quite captivating.
I only hate that they run away when I approach.

Monitor lizard...
It is not dangerous. It tries as much as possible to avoid humans.

It's a monitor lizard or Anta in Yoruba.
It doesn't suck any brains but the adults can lash you up with their tails.

Iguanas and Salamanders are not in Nigeria. We only have Newts and Wall Geckos

That's just an ordinary lizard. Use the size of the blocks to know the real size of that reptile. It's too small to be monitor lizard.
