AM not against buhari not assenting this bill into law, my issue is with that useless gbajabiamila. Its either this was a plan job by the executive and the NASS just to scuttle anything concerning electoral reforms by inserting that particular section that is highly controversial.
How can only gbaja be the one to promote an unpopular bill without due consultations and the next thing the bill is inserted in the ammended electoral bill?
Knowing fully well the president won't assent to it..
This is a well thought out plans by both the executive n legislature to continue hampering growth in our elections.

Direct or indirect primary should be the prerogative of the parties.

Those who smuggled direct primary into the electoral bill did so to generate unnecessary bottleneck and scuttle the entire process.

They all knew the plot from the beginning, it was a well scripted movie.

If the NASS meant well, they should quickly reconvene , expunge the direct primary section and represent to the president.

Everyone knows they dare not override the president.

Nigeria copied US type of democracy. ..
Why will Nigeria abandon the more transparent direct primary in favour for quasi appointment of political office holders through indirect party primaries?

This is to know if the NA did not have their own hidden agenda.....Take out the Direct Primary and return it to him.

You are not far from the truth . Right now people Re victimised based on whom they support . They might even be assassinated for not voting a particular candidate . Let them remove direct primaries and represent it

It's really not an issue assenting to such a bill but its implementation is an herculean task.

Gbaja and Lawan spoke with so much conviction on this Bill, since the President hammered on only Direct Primary out of many other amendments, it's up to them.

This is where we will know what their real intentions are.

He can review the whole reforms and remove the ones thought not practicable and forward it to the NASS but to throw everything away shows some iota of insincerity.
When will Nigeria be at par with other developing nations?
No sign of progress in every facet at all

He doesn't have the powers to reform, review or edit any part of that Bill. His duty is only to sign or reject stating reason(s).

This he has done, now, by returning it to the NA placing reasons on one item. It is now up to the NA to remove that item and re-present it to him, unless they have ulterior motives.

I now believe Gov Wike.

In his interview with Channels, Wike said Buhari is not comfortable with Electronic Transmission of results so some APC juggernauts deliberately smuggled in direct primaries for political parties to provide Buhari a reason to reject the entire electoral amendment Bill.

Brethrens, the main reason for rejecting the bill is "Electronic Transmission of results" and not the so-called direct primaries.

President Buhari is a scam. Remember, his lackey, the Senate President had earlier rejected Electronic Transmission of results but only succumbed after widespread condemnation.

.
You guys have blindfolded by politics of hatred being played in Nigeria. Our governors irrespective of parties rejected direct primary because it will refuce their power. This is the time, labour, youth and civil society should mobilise and demonstrate against government decision. Our problem is not Buhari but governors include Wike.
