Have you been underfeeding your birds because you don’t want to run at loss when you finally sell them off or you looking for a way to Ration feed because of how expensive feeds are now in Nigeria ? Or you have been looking for the accurate quantity to feed your birds daily that will make them grow faster without having to overfeed them ?

Have being there and I know you also have being there or you are even there presently, you don’t have to worry anymore because after learning how to accurately calculate the amount of feed required by your birds all your worries will come to an end.


If you have being a farmer for a while now, you will have known that the expenses that goes to feeding in your farm alone covers 68% of the total amount you spend, cost of the day old birds you purchase cost 24%, while your birds medication cost the remaining 8% of your total farm expenses.

So am going to be calculating how much feed it takes to raise 50 birds from day old till 6weeks when 80% of the birds have already acquired 2.5kg weight

So the way I do it that always get me results is that I feed my birds from day old till I sell them off only starters ? Yes only starters, and its because its only starters that gets me my desired weight which when I sell off makes me the maximum profits, but if you use both staters and finisher you don’t have a problem you can continue with it as long as it gets you the results you want OK ?


So To Achieve 2.5kg weight between 6-7weeks is possible and am going to show you how I go about it. By dividing their days into 3 categories.


1) 0-11days -My 50 birds feeds on half A Bag from day old till they are 10days old. That means if I buy a starter 7,500 I will spend 3,750 on their feeding upbringing from day old till they are 10days old. (1week 3days)


2) 11- 23days My 50 birds feeds on 2bags from their 11days old till when they are 23days old so if I buy a starter 7500 l spend 15,000 for their feeding upbringing from day 11 till they are 23days old ( 3weeks 2days)


3) 23 to 42days - My 50 birds feeds on 5bags from their 23days old till when they are 42days which is the final day I sell them off so if I buy a starter 7500 I spend 37,500 for their feeding upbringing from day 23 till they are 42 days old ( 6weeks).


So my total feeding expenses for my 50birds from day old till they are 6weeks (maturity week) is

3750 plus 15,000 plus 37,500 which gives me the total of #56,250 And this means I will need #56,250 to raise 50birds to make them attain a marketable weight of 2.5kg at 6weeks.


I know you may have started thinking that if you spend 56,250 to feed just 50 birds won’t that end up as a loss for you ? Or if you follow my feeding formula how will you add your gain so as not to incure a loss ?
