When I queried a supplier he pointed to high diesel prices and higher cost of motor parts. I’m just not sure if that accounts for almost double the previous price.

The problem here is 2 ( wet rot and water sipping into the house)
Solution
1. The door need to be replaced with real steel door or real hard wood door… all this Turkish door are not water friendly.
2. For the total elimination of the water sipping in ( their is a simple way to tile such wind direction area, this is where professional play in )
Once you read the direction of wind in rainy season n your area the best approach is to tile your entrance LOWER than the inner part of the building … actually there is a limit gauge to determine while doing this, NO amount of water can sip in when properly done in this manner.

You have two separate issues.

1) You can replace wood door with steel or vice versa. You just need both a bricklayer and a Carpenter. I suggest that you do this during the dry season and to get all materials ready before they start. It's pretty straight forward.

2) I have the same issue with water entering via my front door. I was ready for this though and I will remediate it by doing an awning. The awning needed is more than the one Hajji suggested, in my opinion. For me I occasionally get torrential sideways rain so I need more awning volume.

Kindly follow this procedure, although I don't know the size of the hose, but I assumed copper pipe : 1/2", hose size: 3/8", I hope it might be helpful, but I will still advice you to get AC technician to carry It out for you properly,

Tools and materials needed:
Flaring tools, 1/2" by 3/8" male flare hose connector and nut, hose clip, thread tape

1. Insert¹flare nut into copper pipe

2-flare the copper pipe with flaring tools to appropriate size,

3- tightening the male flare hose connector with it's nut firmly with thread tape

4- insert the hose into the tips of hose connector and clip it tightly,

5-testing of leakage

Called my neighbour who is an AC person and he got it sorted out for me this morning.

Thank you very much for clueing me in and we're now cooking with propane

my building is a storey building 5 bed duplex measuring BXL 13x 17m approx.

1. What is the recommended kingpost height (I was told 15 feet and the quotations I would like you all to help me vet are calculated with 15 feet kingpost in mind.
