What odds are against Tinubu ? Other than Buhari and his inner cabal circle not supporting BAT, do you know the goodwill and support he enjoys from his fellow politicians across the country that Osinbajo can only dream of?

Some of you do not realise that politicians think differently to normal Nigerians. Majority know that Osinbajo did not seek to be a politician. Tinubu made him one.

When you pit both men against each other it is obvious who delegates will support without hesitation. I.e the candidate who has always 'sorted' them, has been in the trenches with them for decades, can be trusted 100%, has been a kingmaker to many, understands what being a political leader is about, etc, etc.

If you think Nigerian politicians vote their fellow politicians for the same reasons you do then goodluck to you. APC primaries will shock some of you. Suffice to say , as a powerful example, Atiku had no political position when he defeated Senate President Saraki, Tambuwal etal to get the PDP ticket last time.

Minus Buhari intervening directly, and if delegates are not bullied or arm-twisted, BAT will win.
I love your conclusion, and that's why we are pitying BAT and his supporters.
There is no how anyone will beat sitting man in an intra party election except he has no interest at all, which is obvious Buhari has interest and definitely not BAT. This is Nigeria not America, even the states' governors won't dare throw ticket openly.

If at worst primary must hold, the latter parts of your write-up says it.
There are many ways to rig a man out of election especially in this type of situation where the NWC came through consensus and majorly from the side of Mr President.

BAT will earn himself a great respect, shielding the sword for PYO than being ridiculed and finishing so poorly despite his political acumen and past success stories.

End of the road for osinbajo and others
Congratulations to BAT
I will see how South West APC will endorse BAT and any other will emerge from the region
Yinmu.
So Bisi Akande and Osoba are the APC southwest.
They are scared seeing Yemi consultation means contrary to their belief.
And the endorsement everywhere.
PYO - PROJECT IS A GOAL

Anybody advising the VP to disrespect the South West leaders by not attending is destroying him without knowing. The VP has a team of political novice. Lol.... Funny enough, the wide mouth Ajulo is not even a delegate to the convention. He should know that this is not NBA election.
Tinubu has once disrected the Afenifere and still won elections on the ground of southwest.
BTW, how dare you called just Bisi Aknade and Osoba who are Tinubu men southwest leaders?
And what is the difinition of disrespect in this context?

I am sure because if you know SW politics you will be aware not all conveners of the conference ar fans of BAT.

Osoba, at best, is ambivalent to Tinubu depending on the day and the contest. He made efforts to seriously strengthen SDP in 2014 to take Ogun State away from then ACN.

What all these guys have in common is the passion to see the Presidency come to the SW. There is a desire to ensure we don't snatch defeat from the jaw of victory. Rightly so because we have done it in the past to our own regret and stagnation.

The aim of the conference is to get aspirants talking to see if cordiality can accommodate compromise and unity of purpose because a house divided will fall. Simple as that. Scaremongering with the name of Tinubu is juvenile.

Many, from North to South, fear a SW Presisency that we now thoroughly deserve under the APC. They'd love for us to fck it up for ourselves as we have done before. Can't tell aspirants what to do but meeting up cordially with others should always be way for the Yorubas.

If SW folks, including supporters of the candidate, create a toxic environment where our aspirants are at each other's throats, then we should not cry when our myopia and inability to see the big picture see us lose out over what we richly deserve.

I understand your fear but as far as I'm concerned, I don't see the reason for the meeting in the first place.

If anybody should be this prepared or united for a consensual candidate/aspirant at this primary stage, it should be the South Easterners...
By right, or idealism, it should be the igbo's turn, so, why should desperation from the Yorubas?

While typing this, I am also thinking that the igbo's might be so disunited to the extent that they might lose it back to the northerners (if that's your fear, I partially agree with you) which will be the most unfair scenario in the outcome of 2023 election.

Nevertheless, Yoruba can still use this energy to encourage an Igbo candidate except if those ones are still not ready, just the way they are doing for now.

Retiring to the 'UNITY' a group of people are trying to achieve on the platform of this proposed meeting, there must be fairness and understanding before you can call such a positive and effective effort.

Out of the considerations should be:
1. The Purpose: what do they stand to gain as an outcome of the meeting? Do they intend to settle conflicts that do not even exist or they want to come up with a consensual candidate?

2. Fairness: the meeting shouldn't be based on invitation, it should be based on agreement among the major stakeholders, their heirs and the concerned aspirants which must cover all the parties that have south western aspirants. This will be necessary if any claim will be laid on the 'unity of the South Westerners' at all

3. Neutrality: it shouldn't be an affair or arrangement that will have any aspirant in mind or seek for the comfort of a group, any rudiment of the meeting should be a coverage of all SW people without limiting it to party, state or group of individuals.

The venue is not a collective decision of the stakeholders, thereby, null and void.
They should go and find neutral ground and give every stakeholder a detailed agenda of the meeting and if anything changes during the meeting, unsatisfied participants have the right to walk out of the meeting without any sentiments attached or emotional blackmail afterwards

Afenifere is not in the same category with the leaders of the APC in this contest. Afenifere don't vote in the parties convention. Afenifere no be delegates. The names mentioned above are not just leaders and delegates but influencers of delegates.

Osoba, Akande and co can not force the VP to agree to anything in the meeting. Just attend and make your own position known. It's better than ignoring the invitation which is disrespectful. The VP doesn't look like a person with the required guts to fix Nigeria. He behaves like a coward, this was same way he boycotted Lagos and Osun during his southwest tour. President should be bold and fearless, that's why I respect Amaechi.

So, because he boycotted Osun and Lagos during HIS tour now, it means he is coward....

Now, that he has attended the meeting now that is not spectacular (isonu meeting), I think he's no more a coward ba? and fit to be the president of the nation?

He heard my advice and did the needful. Anybody that advised him to boycott that meeting is his enemy. Imagine that he ignored the leaders with all of those present. Make we dey use our brains. He's the VP of the country, what's he afraid of? Leaders should never be short of courage at all times.

He did not hearken to your advice, he did his consultation very well and decision favoured the invitation...I love your 'advice' hype tho cheesy

We did not have the details of the meeting and my ground right from day one has been stated in my previous posts, 'the meeting shouldn't be about imposition of consensual candidate, most especially if it was Tinubu'...we both know Yorubas whip sentiments unnecessarily.

They can even auto-suggest that Tinubu and Osinbajo are not in good terms, thereby making osinbajo to apologise to Tinubu...you will understand what I'm saying very well if you are conversant with Yoruba culture

They even stylishly suggest or propose consensus and if Osinbajo or someone else declines on a lone train, they can easily blackmail such person emotionally hiding under the pretense that 'yoruba elders' are appealing to him but he's objecting the collective appeal of the Yoruba elders - we both know how their Amala politics goes.

Thank God they didn't come through all those channels and vices to distract Osinbajo (because up till now, I've not gotten the essence of the meeting).....

But all in all, they should just forget about playing all those old tricks and support the chosen candidate as may be necessary after the primaries.

Mw, note, Osinbajo is not a coward nor fearful of any one, he just needs to apply wisdom in anything he does, he gets briefs often more than you and I.

The quality of briefs he gets and the source can make or mar him. People like Kayode Ajulo should not be allowed in that capacity. I've watched him a couple of times on TV. He's too combative, aggressive and confrontational for my liking. It's not yet Apc vs pdp, this is yet a family contest and whoever wins it,can not win the general election alone.

Ajulo ran to the press to say he already has the communique of the said meeting, that it was to use the presence of the VP and others to adopt Tinubu as the consensus candidate from the zone. Why lie shamelessly? Just say you don't have the agenda of the meeting, simple!

I commend the south west Apc leaders for that meeting because it helped to douse tension. You can observe that the animosity has reduced amongst the various camps since then. It was almost boiling over.

The 3points made at the meeting were :

South west united to produce next president

All southwest Apc members are free to contest and must mind their use of language in the process.

The whole of southwest must unite for whoever becomes the candidate eventually.

By the way the VP took my advice because he consulted me. You can ask him. Lol.....

He did not I insist..lols, just that your humourous sense of reasoning aligns with wisdom and ethics and that shows that kayode ajulo's opinion or reasoning is of little or no impact in Osinbajo's decision.

I'm more comfortable with the outcome of the meeting than the call/purpose of same...

It was successful and they didn't impose consensus.

Behind the scene, they might be lobbying for that tho but they met their target(s) in adequate mood of response I guess.

All the three agenda u mentioned are valid tho but a greater point is, they did not bring consensus
