You wife works in the health sector, she now wants to tell her employer, to employ you too ...........

Una think say, nah Nigeria una dey ........... When you arrive, you seek employment and apply. If her employer got vacancies, you would have to apply too, I doubt her employer, would have any process engineering roles ......... grin

Remap your plans ....... Unfortunately, your wife cannot dictate her shift patterns....... She would have to take, what she is given.......

Thanks.

Mimzyy:
Since we are discussing scams, I’ll like to chip this in…
Let’s be careful when purchasing air tickets as well because there are some websites that are now designed mainly for fraudulent activities. My mum intends travelling to naija later this year and I started searching for an affordable ticket online, I stumbled upon cheapflights.co.uk and found a deal on Lufthansa for £400 plus. I was redirected to this website https://www.helloflights.co.uk/ where I was asked to fill in the passenger’s information, I did that promptly and few hours later I was contacted by one of the representatives of the company.

I provided all the required information and even sent my mum’s passport data page for verification of the names. After all said and done, I was sent an email requesting a deposit of about £100 which I did promptly then I replied the email stating that I’ve made the payment and asked for the ticket to be issued, the guy told me the ticket will be issued when full payment is made and I told him I was ready to pay in full as I didn’t initially request for part payment plan. He then told me that I had until June to make the payment and the ticket price is locked and guaranteed so I should not worry. I felt something off but I didn’t go with my gut feeling that day so I agreed but I asked him to send me the airline reference so I can double check on Lufthansa website myself. This took another 24 hours before I could get it and I checked, the reservation was there but there was no ticket number so I knew it was just a booking and not a confirmed ticket.

I called the agent back severally and no one picked. I then decided to send an email requesting ticket issuance. There was no response to that email. I called all through the next day and it was same. The next day, I decided to check their reviews again, I had previously done this but I just checked the first page of the reviews on trustpilot but this time, I filtered the reviews to show me the one star reviews and my findings shocked me to the bone marrow. Lots of people were in the same situation as I was…

To cut the story short, I called them back with another number and this time, they picked. I calmly told them my findings and said I wanted a refund. This is how the scam works, when they have you pay the deposit, they send an email containing the flight reservation and somewhere in that email written in the tiniest of fonts is a caveat stating that your quoted fare is only valid for about 3 days from the date you paid the deposit but this will be contrary to what you will be told over the phone. They’ll infact ensure that you’re convinced to pay closer to your travel date. Then when that time comes, you’ll be told that that fare is not valid again and you’ll then be made to pay through your nose even higher than what the airline is selling directly at that moment.

Anyway, I raved, ranted, cursed over the phone and the guy asked me to send an email requesting a refund. I told him I was recording all of our conversations and I actually was from that point onwards. Well it will suffice to say that that email was not responded to and I haven’t had the energy to show them craze since then. I had my mum open her Monzo app and report the transaction as fraudulent with evidence showing I requested ticket issuance even before the allotted date in their email. Monzo stated that they had contacted them and it will take up until 22 July before they hear back from them merchant. Anyway we’ve counted our loss and moved on.

I eventually purchased directly from British airways website to avoid any more stories that touch because I was really shaken by that experience despite my supposed “wokeness level”. They are also a registered company because I checked on gov.Uk so the level at which they operate is different from the norm. So let’s be careful out there and be very mindful cos the level of scam is just on another level entirely.

Well, you were lucky not to have met the worse darl.

By providing your mom’s passport for verification purposes, those guys could have cashed out easily with it.

You got experience in nursing assistant roles.......... The hospital bank staffing departure, would not just employ you like that o ........ grin

Start by hoping, the bank department would curre be recruiting, when you arrive ..........

I hope you get a role with the staffbank department, you would then decide your shift patterns........

We plan on telling her employer that I will like to work with them
Typically, that's not how it works.
Having said that, the obvious, if however there's a 'direct access side relationship'! with the 'employer', probably possibly. This for probity sake, won't be public discourse here!!!

... a Process Engineer in the oil and gas sector with about 5years of experience.
Perhaps, you might to start heading North (Scotland North East). While enroute get CEng with ECUK probably through IChemE.
B4 leaving 9ja, try to be part of NSE and become or becoming COREN Engr
ECUK - https://www.engc.org.uk/professional-registration/the-professional-titles/
IChemE - https://www.icheme.org/membership/

... I have an entry level proficiency in machine learning and data analyst
This is a 'different' option. You might explore remote job even if part-time/gig. There's been some discussion on this forum on Data analyst/scientists and business analyst

All the best.

Hi guys, I have been following this thread from the first page. I and my family will be coming to Chippenham Wilshire in a couple of weeks. My wife got a health care sponsorship job. The issue is that we have two kids, 6 months and 2years +. We understand that paying for child minder or nursery is very expensive. We plan on telling her employer that I will like to work with them and ask if it will be possible to give me an alternate shift with her always so we can have at least one person taking care of the kids at home.
Is this a good idea?

I am a Process Engineer in the oil and gas sector with about 5years of experience. I have an entry level proficiency in machine learning and data analyst. Any advise on the best option for us?

Good evening . Please I need clarifications and possible way forward. 1) I moved out of a property without damaging anything here in the Uk but the agency will be deducting 275 £ for cleaning
I.e 100£ to clean the rug
75£ to clean the oven and 100£ for general cleaning.
Is this how it is done.
2) In the property which was a room toilet kitchen and bathroom my electricity bill was a direct debit of 165 monthly.
When I moved out I call EDF to let them know of my change of address and my bill for that month which was 11 days.
I was sent a bill of 472 .
How ?
I don't know what next to do.
Has anyone go e through this or have a way of handling this.

@Bigfolk, kindly pay particular attention to the thread's elder admonition/guidance [Lexusgs430]. Being precise, logical and factual is critical in matters like this. From what you stated, you already had most of the essentials. Just ensure you remain focus on the issues in dispute (with little emotions!). Your factual statement of case will go a long way.

You alluded to possibly one of the documentary proofs eluding you.
... Smart meter was installed 5 days b4.... So I could not submit meter readings
On the contrary, you can invoke 'shift in the onus of proof'. Essentially, since it's a smart meter, the landlord and energy company ought to have the readings (including the pattern of use).
Simply state this factually. Something like ...
At about five days, or thereabouts before moving out of the said premise, a smart meter was installed by [insert] energy company. Thus, a snapshot reading is available or ought to be available from the landlord and/or the energy company. Furtherto, I request the daily readings for the five days period (dd-mm to dd-mm 2022) being the last five days preceding and on the last exit day, for which I do not have reading. I allude, to my understanding or knowledge that the daily billing ought to be in the region of circa £5 per days or ought not to exceed the stated £5 for the periods without reading ...

@Bigfolk, you might want to rethink or revisit this part. Kindly note we can only input based on what you inferred or state or on assumptions we make.
£5 per day equate about £150 pm or about £25 for the 5 days.

Kindly also read more about smart meters.
Perhaps from Ofgem for a start: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/getting-smart-meter
