One thing ETH should be thankful for is that he is coming to meet one of the most talented sets of youth team players we have had in a long while.

Will you magically give him speed and agility? CBs under ETH play near the half way line and must be good in 1v1 defending in open spaces and on the flanks (as the full backs are often in the opposition half). Based on physical attributes Maguire is the least suited of our CBs to playing this system

Another thing. If ETH does not strengthen the team with quality senior buys and depends mainly on the youth we won't make top 4 again next season. The talented youth players are meant to be integrated slowly into the team not made the cornerstone of the team.

One thing about Ten Hagg is his ability to create a system and adopt to the players available at his disposal.


One Season he plays with a false 9 in Tadic, the other with a target man in Haller.
One Season he plays with a 10 in Donny who is more of a goalscorer, then another o with Berghuis who is more a playmaker
One year he play with a real winger at Right wing like Antony, the other with Ziyech who is more like a playmaker.
Timber is a whole different type of central defender than Matthijs de Ligt.
Every one would have thought creating a combination of two slow players in blind and tadic down the wings would have been a bad idea but they were incredibly deadly just last season.
