How To Stop “VOTE-BUYING”.. We Need To Clamp Down On All The “VOTE SELLERS” by BluntCrazeMan: 11:55am On Jun 20, 2022
THE EASIEST AND THE BEST WAY TO STOP “VOTE-BUYING” IS TO STOP THE “VOTE-SELLERS”.
..
Without the VOTE-SELLERS, There would not be any VOTE BUYERS..

The Vote-Buyers are always present during elections and they are always ready to pump-in so much money into the “illegal business” of vote-buying, just because there are willing Vote-Sellers,, and that the the “illegal business” was shamelessly made “Legal” by those who are supposed to ensure that the illegal business didn't take place in the first place.

The Easiest Principles to apply in stopping Vote-buying and Vote-Selling is just to destroy the “Market” itself.
It's not JUST about chasing those people who are sharing the money, but it is supposed to be more of making the “Market” itself so unfavorable for both the Vote-Sellers and the Vote-Buyers.
And that is, destabilising all the possible “confirmation processes and methods” which the Vote-Buyers would be planning to use in confirming who the Vote-Sellers voted for,, and thus, leaving the Vote-Buyers with the sole option of having to trust “ONLY THE WORDS” of the Vote-Sellers, which is definitely going to be very difficult for the Vote-buyers themselves.

HERE BELOW ARE THE BEST AND THE EASIEST WAYS TO STOP VOTE-BUYING AND VOTE-SELLING

1. Serious Voter Education is needed in order to enlighten the electorates, so that they should know that the thumb-printed ballot-papers arw something that is supposed to be treated very secretly,,, and that its exposure in any way or manner amounts to a very serious electoral offence.

2. Any voter who shows his or her thumb-printed ballot-paper to the public should be arrested immediately without any delay. Whether he or she was paid to do such a thing or not. If the voter shows his or her thumb-printed ballot-paper to anyone or to any other person who might be loitering around the polling-booth/cubicle; both the voter and the “loitering” person should be arrested immediately.
It is a serious electoral offence for someone to breach the privacy of his or her votes.

3. Any voter who snaps a photo (or a picture) of his or her thumb-printed ballot-paper should be arrested immediately without any delay.
It is a serious electoral offence for someone to snap a photo (or a picture) of his or her votes.

4. Voters that are on the queue are free to record the events at the Polling-Units,, but not the events at the Polling-Booth/cubicle.
That means, the voters are free to capture the photos and videos of voters who are showing their thumb-printed ballot-papers to the public, and/or voters who are showing their thumb-printed ballot-papers to someone who is loitering around the polling-booth/cubicle.

5. For any Polling-Unit where there had been video evidences (or photo-evidences) of such illegal exposures of thumb-printed ballot-papers without the arrest of such voters and accomplices,, then, the INEC Officials and the Security Personnels that were drafted to such Polling-Units should be sought out from the records and prosecuted accordingly.

ABOUT VIDEO AND PHOTO EVIDENCES..
The video evidences (and/or photo-evidences) should contain adequate contents which would easily let the viewer to ascertain the time and the venue of such events. If not, then such videos and photos are as good as nothing.

In capturing videos, it is highly advisable for the person who is recording the video to say the location and date while recoding the video, and then tell the time the video is being recorded, and also, a brief description of what is happening inside the video..

As for photos, time-stamped cameras can be used, or GPS Cameras which can also indicate the geo-coordinates of the location of the camera as well as the time and date of recording the events.. Then, more than one photoshot is required, and it should be snapped from many angles, so that the location of the event can be identified by those who already knew the place..

Oil dey your head. I keep telling people that more PVCs is not the solution to Nigeria elections. Guiding those who already have PVCs and are willing to vote is more important than encouraging more people to get PVCs. If there are only ten PVC holders and majority of them votes wisely, good leaders will emerge. If there 100 billion PVC holders and most of them vote unwisely, bad leaders will emerge. When a wrong ideology guides the majority in the society, an increase in the number of PVC holders will only result in more votes for the wrong candidates.

Nice suggestions. I just love people that think of solutions to problems rather than just complain.

I wonder though, why voters are allowed to walk around with thumb printed papers.

Exactly.!!
..
They shouldn't bother about the Voters-turnout for now.
Once the little votes start to count, and count properly,, then the turnout will definitely increase by itself.

Vote buying is a lesser evil when compared to the usual Vote-manipulation which INEC usually do all these while.
..
Now that it now remains only Vote-buying to be controlled,, it is very easy.
..
The points you raised above are very practical too.
