Hi gurus, just to get clarity, I have got a tier 2 work visa. Working in the NHS, 40hrs/week.

Recently, I got a second job (care job) doing 36 hrs /week.

Seeing this updates from gov.uk website, hope I'm not breaking any rules?

https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/second-job
Be careful on this one, seek real good advice from people with same situation and past experience cos this was how I nearly got in trouble in my early days in the. I hope someone points you in the right direction here.

Yes you pay however I found a way round this
Option 1. when you do electronic check in at the Airports you are given the option of choosing your seat
Option 2, be nice to the lady at the check i n counter and ask for window seat or preferred seat.
works like magic

So if i decide to go with option 1, Qatar is obliged to give me any seat fot next to nothing as long as I hold a freaking ticket?. grin

You want to work 76hrs/week with vulnerable patients?!

It's not sustainable, and I will strongly advice as a fellow healthcare professional not to put patients at risk by doing this.

Imagine a scenario where an investigation is conducted....... The moment tax records are pulled.....

You can imagine who would be deemed guilty.........

On the other hand, that Nigerian mansion must be completed, within 12 months (with a mercedes on the drive + driver)............ grin

What I did was to Download an app - Driving Test Cancellations Now. There’s many apps but this has a red icon. The app will try to find a cancellation appointment for you and book it automatically.

It is more effective outside London in my experience as there’s less struggle for dates / less people using these sort of apps. Also, the app can help book in a different test center so you can choose up to 3 test centers for it to search for cancellation test appointments. For example, you book in a far location for a far away date (if no closer test center is available on DVSA website when making the original booking) and the app moves it to a closer test center and date for you based on your preference.

Lastly, the app is not free. Good luck !

@Widall, Hope you've got clarity. Your 2nd job is care
Great responses to everyone in the dark or 'grey' or just looking for ref
Think ILR down the line. Think health, quality of life.
justwise:
You are.
Viruses:
You are if the second job is not as a doctor, nurse or paramedic. Moreso I do not think we are still operating under covid guidelines.
Even the 20hrs on a second job with same occupation code and in shortage fear no let me take because I no wan hear stories. 5 years no far.
semmyk:
Regarding Skilled worker (previously Tier 2)
Due to coronavirus (COVID-19),

there’s currently no limit on the number of hours you can work or volunteer if you have a second job as an NHS doctor, nurse or paramedic.
Two factors:
1. Is the operative environment that of COVID -19
1.1 with the 'lapse' of COVID rules
1.2 near back to normal (albeit new normal)
2. Explicit or prescriptive job code
2.1 only NHS
2.2 only NHS doctor, nurse (which are defined, codified, regulated)
2.3 only NHS paramedic which 'does not extend' beyond what it is; think casualty, A&E
2.4 are councils' social care services the same as NHS (save for NI where we have HSC)

[Just in case, for those intending or new]

Your second employer will need to offer you sponsorship else you're limited to 20hrs.

You will have the option to select a seat for free when check-in opens which is usually within 24 hours of departure. The problem with this is that most times, the aisle and window seats will be long gone by this time/ plus you will be left with seats at the very back of the plane so you will be among the last to exit the plane.

Secondly if you are travelling with a family/kids, it is always advisable to pre book seats so that way you are guaranteed to sit together as a family. Whereas if you leave it to check in, your 10 yr old daughter may be sandwiched between two men in 14b while your wife will be seated beside another stranger in number 26c. Most airlines always try to sit families together but this is demand led and not guaranteed.

Not to muddy the discussion, but:

a) I would think that anything that is on Gov.UK can be relied upon as the UK Government's prevailing position regarding its covid working practices until otherwise stated. The covid rules have indeed been repealed regarding things like work from home, mask mandates, etc., but nothing was stated regarding staffing/workplace related issues (except that staff with Long Covid have been bounced), and I don't think that affects the healthcare worker shortages that have inspired recent government policy in that regard.

b) Care workers and healthcare assistants are on the UK's shortage occupation list at the moment.

So, on the face of it, the OP does have the right to pick up a second job not exceeding 20 hours per week. The advisability of working that number of hours a week of course, is something else altogether.

Have you tried trove ? I use it to buy shares in dollars ( convert your naira to dollars) and anytime you need naira you just convert back to naira, that way you don't loose value when the naira depreciates, and you can buy different kinds of shares if you like. If not ,Just convert to dollars and leave it there until you need naira. Its a win win situation.
