Good day house. Pls I intend pursuing a visa application to Portugal as a tourist but want to stay back to live and work in Portugal. I need advice on this - Can I easily convert my tourist visa to permanent residents status in Portugal at the expiration of the 3 months tourist visa, how do I go about it and like how much will be involved.
I will also appreciate contributions from gurus who have more travel experience. Pls this is urgent and important for me to make a life decision

Well I have a relative in Portugal....from our discussion you'll need what they call Autorização de Trabalho(work permit) when you get there...and to do do you'll need to have contacted a company that will employ you after your entry with a tourist visa....some of the easiest sectors according to her which employs internationals easily after entry is in the tourism sector (hotels, restaurants et al) coincidentally....FYI to apply for a residence permit that allows work in Portugal costs around €83. There are cost related documentation when submitting your application form at SEF however to receive the residence permit for work purposes from the SEF costs around €72.....you can do the currency conversions to naira yourself.....I'll stop here but for further exclusive information on the easiest way to migrate there kindly mention me with your questions or WhatsApp then we'll continue the conversation in proper..

I am not sure you are allowed to convert a tourist visa to work visa.
To qualify for PR in any country, you need to have worked,no crime records and paid all your taxes for a certain number of years to qualify to apply.
So i think you are jumping a very very very very big gun.

Make more research.
what you need now is how to get a job that meets the requirements to get a work permit visa.
I don not think countries allow people from developing countries to change tourist visas to work visas, which is why at visa interviews you are required to proof that you will come back to your country after your tourism is over.

My 2 cents

It is better to read to comprehend rather than reading to comment.....if you travel with a tourist visa and you get a job you are allowed to apply with your employment letter and travel documentation to allow for working and eventually temporary or permanent resident permit....is it everyone that works in Europe that got the jobs before they travelled? Be guided.

Thanks for your submission but I am aware that in Turkey you can convert your tourist visa to PR without stress but I don't like Turkey and that's why I wants to find out if this is possible. Secondly I don't enough money to go thr study route, so if you stay in Portugal kindly guide me on what to do as I know it's not easy to get a job in Portugal from Naija. Kindly respond Sir

I think you are mixing things up.

There is
1. Tourist Visa
2. Work Permit Visa
3. Permanent Resident Visa (PR)


I do not think any country will give you PR from Tourist Visa.
If you are able fight through the immigration process, the first visa will be a work permit visa, and they come with requirements.
The job must meet minimum wage requirements etc.

PR visas except for (Canada and Australia PR visa programs) are given after you have lived in a country for at least 3-5 years while been employed and paying all taxes and pension contributions as required.

So i guess, what you are referring to know is how to get a work permit visa.
That means you need a job that will meet minimum labour requirements such as wages is at or above minimum wage etc.
