for me, whenever I experienced wicked people like that, I activate violence mode immediately, that's why I can't work under anybody. My last employer called police for me, I broke one of her hand before police arrive, when I return from cell after 3days, I went back to the office to pack my remaining stuff, my guy ran away thinking I came for another attack. No peace anywhere. Violence is encouraged in this wicked society. But now I have more than 30people working for me and I pay salary. You can never differentiate who is the director between me and my workers because of good working relationship

Avoid getting in a fight with a lady at work or anywhere. The wey they will start shouting on top of their voice na you go dey beg her to stop sef. Many of them are mannerless and petty.

You are not the HR!! If you ever mind business that insult could have passed by, leave HR work for him/her besides, if she's wrong will the blame come to you. Except is a joint work which I thought it.

Some women have this thing about lying that u asked them out and they declined, thats why you are harassing them! That is why u have to be tactical in dealing with this and make sure your hands are clean! With all that in place you have a case. Don't hesitate to write rhe report. I have been a victim of such character, so i know what am saying.
Note also that if she gets away with it, she will do it again, that is how those kimd of women behave.
As an HR practioner, I know how these things play out, if u don't have sufficient prove, guy u might be nailed for what u know nothing about, so be sensible in dealing with the issue.

I think I am guilty of shouting at my subordinate was their wrongs , especially when I have corrected the same error over n over.... Each time I raise my voice, I later on try to help them erase my initial shout from their mind ,usualy with a joke:
1. So they know it nothing personal. Just work!

2. re-iterate the need to take caution and to know the likely consequence of their action or inaction.

..... One of my machine operator doesn't understand anything unless I shouted at him.

In fact na him make me dey get hbp but I can't sack him because he knows his job but a drunk. Lol.

Been facing this at work recently. This very lady is having a crush on me. I always pretended I didnt get her motive. When she realised I have a fiancee, boom all the beefing, shouting and attitude started... Just looking at her sha, month end I collect salary

Even if the blame does not come to you for her wrong doing, would you watch and let one person rubbish the work of an entire team?
Where i work, we have a slogan that says "if u see it, own it" because if u choose to be unconcerned, that error/wrongdoing might come back to hunt either you, the team and by extension company! Not all matters need to get to HR before they are thrashed out!

Most times when you shout, you will not know that you are shouting. You can have a one-one chat with her. Not everyone loves to be shout at. Shouting people down bruise their self esteem and they usually fight back by shouting in return

It seems at some point I raised my voice but not literally the way she did as if we were in a market place....my reaction is a build up of frustration of the girls other past work related misbehaviour.,...hope to wake and handle things better going forward

I get you but i guess you are talking from the point of view of a coworker, if u are a supervisor (direct or indirect), would you do that? However, as a coworker there is a way to correct an erring colleague that would not result to argument or quarrel. But my advice as an HR practioner, when u see someone doing the wrong thing whether they are a member of you team or not, pls speak up! Your speaking up may safe lives! You also said something about saving u stress, not speaking up may save u stress but speaking up may save ur life!

Understand that when people exaggerate their response ,it's likely comes from pro longed provocations and other informal arrangement. So here are my questions;

1) how did you correct her, did u raise your voice or insult her.
2) what is the age difference between you both
3) who is older at the organization
