Should Foreigners be blamed for the exploitation of Africa or African leaders?

I address this question in 3 above.

Now my question:

Should you blame the robbers that broke into your house and raped your 15-year-old daughter and have now caused her emotional and psychological disorders?

How do you want that your daughter to feel when she later discovered that you are friends with the robbers to date?

Also, by calculation almost all African countries gained independence under her reign and also gave opportunities to Africans who went over to her country to get educated and used that knowledge to seek for independence but overtime what has African leaders done to better the life of the African masses... How many of us will truly mourn the death of our leaders like they are doing right now in Britain?

Your last comment implied that those who talk about widening tax net are Tinubu supporters. That is not true. (and I have even argued with a Tinubu supporter who believes we pay too much in tax even).

It is also the responsibility of the people to see that the government enforces the law. That is why we are in a participatory democracy. Government should do something, but so also should we.

[

That is not true and you know it.

Our tax to gdp ratio meanwhile is low. Argue with that.

Of course it's low because most of the tax is street-level and uncaptured, not because people aren't paying. Very few people work for structured companies considering the size of the population, majority just 'hustle', according to them. Unless you want government to also tax yahoo and prostitution, virtually every hustler is subject to some form of street tax.

State govts pretend not to know this because the informal tax collectors are quasi-agents of theirs come election season.

How can we move on when for instance, two nations with nothing alike were forcefully merged together to create Nigeria? The only way Africans can move on is if western allies leave us alone and allow us create our countries by our selves based on mutual interests.

Currently, our countries are created based on British and European interests.

The British was working with rulers in Africa when they came. In fact, if the British didn't stop slave trade, African Rulers had no plans to stop engaging in the business.

Now tell me, when you foolishly declared war, what were you expecting? Hugs and kisses?

We seperated for the protection of our people who were being massacred afresh and afresh even after going back to their destinations more than twice. It was an act of self preservation.

Lots of measures such as the Aburi accord get we're out in place for us to negotiate a peaceful let go. War was declared on us, a people whose govt was actively regimenting and participating in it's massacres and pogroms. Till date not a single soul has stood trial for these crimes.

Deliberate blockading and starvation is not a legitimate weapon of war it is illegal and a crime against humanity. It is against the rules of Engagement.

You're not Intelligent

Did I invite the robbers to my house?

1. You are the one not really intelligent here. So, in your narrow mind, African leaders were the ones that invited European and American exploiters to Africa right?

2. Ok, if African rulers were the ones that invited white traders to Africa, why was there no advancement in science and technology? Why was there no advancement in agriculture? How come goods from Africa never reached Europe except for the minerals that were exploited? How come Africans were never the ones in charge of the mines, industries, and banks in Africa? How come Africa never had control of its goods and trade?

3. So, in your timid and underdeveloped mind, African leaders invited these exploiters to come rubbish and destroy their lands and people for gunpowder, mirrors, and gums, right?

4. The "slave trade" between African communities was not exploitative. Both parties benefitted and their communities developed. Cases, where the trade became intense are a result of the coming of the Europeans and the feudalism Africa was approaching.

5. Comparing this "slave trade" to the slave trade of blacks across the transatlantic ocean is like comparing the fight between two teenage brothers in their bedroom and a war between two countries.

Parachoko:
The British were working with rulers in Africa when they came.
6. I stated this before in the first post you quoted.

7. African leaders were working with them because the exploiters had all the power: they were in control of sea trades. They own guns and other weapons. They had the military and police. They stimulated fighting between African communities using the divide and conquer strategy. And coupled with the fact that the British made the trade profitable albeit destructive, African rulers succumb.

8. African rulers were used because of their ignorance and greed: It is on this note that I don't hold any grudges against the Europeans and America because life is a game; business is a game; politics is a game; in war, the dumb and the weak cannot survive.

9. Yeah, had it been African rulers unanimously ruled against the exploitation of Britain, Europe, and North America, the effect would not have been destructive and cancerous even up to this moment.

Parachoko:
In fact, if the British didn't stop the slave trade, African Rulers had no plans to stop engaging in the business.

10. Just imagine the nonsense you spilled out of your mouth and yet you claimed to be wise and intelligent. Pathetic!

So, the British stopped the slave trade, the slave trade they introduce and sponsored to the day it was abolished, has now become a great help to Africans, right?

11. The simple reason the slave trade was abolished was that slaves were no longer needed in large numbers in fields due to the rise in science and technology. The industrial revolution led to the abolishment because the profits and work involved in the slave trade is not worthy compared to machines and industries.

12. Even after the abolishment of the slave trade, the exploiters still had a strong hold on African soil as they exploited the land further, and pillaged the mineral resources. They had a strong military presence in their former colonies. They controlled African trade, politics, economics, and the military.

13. Slave trade may have been abolished, but the exploiters still rule even till today as a result of the different policies they have set - on the external you think it is to develop Africa, but deciphering within, you will come to understand that these policies ensure the continuous pillaging of Africans.

Parachoko:
You can lead out the kings in Nigeria who was fighting against the slave trade with the white men make I see.

14. Shaka of Zululand, Jaja of oppo (Tada, and one king of Kongo - (don't get their names correctly), etc. rebelled, but their strength was not enough compared to the exploiters.

NB: The black slave trade is an African problem, not Nigeria alone.

PS: Don't quote me again and talk nonsense. Else, have a nice day.

Her tweet is on supposedly antibiafra roles Brit played under the Queens leadership during Nigerian Civil War.

... if you read only one side of history

Whatever evils the Brits did to our ancestors through slavery and colonisation were being done to them by their fellows. The real crimes of the English was being an outsider and the magnification of this inhuman treatments.

Also, let's not forget that the same whites abolished slavery, and forced some of our leaders that were refusing to do the same.

Note: I'm not supporting or excusing the crimes of the Brits nor happy about slavery. But I'm giving perspectives. I just us to realise that slavery was a trade, and all sexes, races and colours actively participated in it. So I want us to lick our wounds and move on, and the earlier we do the better.

#What she tweeted is not defendable, especially because she is a professor of history subjects. She should have known better. The school will do well to fire her.

Thanks for your contribution... It's a wrong time to tell my story.. Why I left Nigeria... If we could move on, it'd have been better for us, very soon Europeans would see Africa as their second home cos we've got wonderful weather and land + population to make things work.. But unfortunately, I learnt we can't move on and that was the moment I moved on personally with my life.
