Someone predicted Portugal to make it to the semis and you think that’s underrating?

Him preferring Argentina doesn’t mean Portugal isn’t a good team

I don't think Remo's Bankole can do that nonsense Okoye did yesterday.

Honestly, these home-based keepers are better than these foreign based. Unlike these foreign based that got into the Supereagles on a platter of gold, the home-based work very hard for their call-ups. I will put part of the blame in the NFF. The goalkeeper of the 2015 victorious u-17 should have been monitored by the NFF. He should have been helped in securing a good club in Nigeria and made an understudy in the Supereagles since 2015. By now, he would have been exposed to top-flight football.

Fun fact- Akpeyi might be the best of our present goalies.

Who are the best NPFL keepers? Can't remember Ezenwa committing such school boy errors we are seeing lately.

Where do you even get all these lamba from??

The way you're lamentating, you sound like everybody here is calling for Nwakali to be invited and given automatic starting shirt...

In comparison to Nwakali thats the central theme.

Of course he has been mentioned but not the way World class midfield maestro Nwakali stuck in obscurity for near a decade is continuously.

The basis for national team selection should and is mostly based on consistent outstanding top level performance in your club and league.

If you played youth football you need to transfer that skill set to the senior game it's not an be assumption.

In 2009 Nigeria played the U17 world cup at home, out uncle almost won it.

The Brazilian team didn't go far in the competition but thier players have like Coutinho and Neymar to mention a few .

Yes, Moses Simon did save Adeleye's blushes yesterday but aside that, it was an okay debut for Adebayo Adeleye.

Did you watch the last game of Adeleye vs Israeli Champs competing in the ongoing UCL group stage, Maccabi Haifa? He was pretty outstanding in that game.
Lad has 3 consecutive cleansheets for his club in the Liga't Ha'al this 22/23 season out of 4 games he's played so far and they lost their last game in the Israel Premier league Cup 2 days ago without Adeleye and against a side that Adeleye had kept a cleansheet against in the league (they won that game even).

His backup Yonathan Shabi is decent but would be wondering wetin happen.

Point is yesterday was Adeleye's first game for us so that one moment of dropping the ball shouldn't bring us to conclusions on the lad just yet. As one who is more active than the other two goalies, it is still okay to go with him and any other active local scene GK. Okoye and Uzoho are currently out of sorts.

he’s a young GK and not full of gaffes like Mr Okoye, hopefully he gets his own run in the team

Okoye's blunder was something else, he keeps setting new records for errors.

Our defenders have their own share of blame for the error committed by Okoye. They should have tried relieving the pressure on Okoye. They isolated him, they allowed those bodies close up on him without giving him the option of an easy passing of the ball to them, but Okoye still had other options to take, but insisted on the option that required a balling skill he doesn't have.

Now that I have watched the game, I am no longer so angry about the result. Okoye made a doltish error and they got a penalty.
Lucky goals.

It appears we played better than them overall, creating chances which were sadly, wasted by our forwards. We even got an identical chance to the one Okoye gifted them but our striker blew the chance. And we started the game with what is pretty much our second eleven.

BTW, Iwobi's goal was pure class.
Pls any link to watch the full match?

What I am implying is that since we have identified the problem of the team, besides lack of creativity in the midfield, the goalkeeping department is the other problematic one. I felt any serious person in the NFF should have shown intetest in Udoh( u-17 world cup winner) and helped him build a good career to solve our goalkeeping problems. The guy has height, good reflexes coupled with the fact that he was a world cup winner. It would have really helped his confidence.De gea is a case study.

TheSuperNerd:
Points Summary from Yesterday's game: NGA 2-2 ALG B

- Alex Iwobi's form is Permanent. Not only did he score with a wonder strike from outside the box, he also provided the Pre-assist for Dessers' goal. Iwobi didn't start the game but his entrance obviously changed the dynamics of the middle game yesterday.

- Cyriel Dessers scored from an Iheanacho Assist following an Iwobi Pre-assist but he should have had a brace as well after Iheanacho robbed the Algerian GK of the ball and put it on a plate for Dessers whose effort was blocked off the line by an Algerian defender.

- Kelechi Iheanacho came in and provided an assist for our second goal and also created another big chance for Dessers.

- Adebayo Adeleye had a decent test debut but looked a bit shaky as on one occasion his diving saved effort fell for an Algerian player before Moses Simon came to his rescue with a clearance.

- Raphael Onyedika impresses on his test debut. Even had a crack at goal saved in the first half.

- Savior Godwin is a Baller. He came into the game and created chaos for the Algerian left defensive channel. For a lad who naturally plays from the left of attack for his club, Casa Pia, he did really well. It was also his blocked effort that eventually fell for Iwobi to unleash that world class belter of a strike for our first goal.

- Calvin Bassey was adjudged to have fouled an Algerian player in the box but that looked soft to me. A soft penalty call. A shoulder shove and the player goes down... Penalty. Naaah... ain't no ref giving that in the EPL or Serie A. Lol

And Finally....

- Maduka Okoye. The less said the better.
Last game for the Super Eagles, he committed a Blunder.
Next game for the Super Eagles after the last, he commits another Blunder and this one even more hilarious and calamitous than the first.
Will Okoye ever learn??

Overall, we were the better side. Conceeded cheap goals caused by a GK calamity moment and a cheap pen call.
We created the most chances and with Iwobi especially, we took total control of the game from the middle influencing happenings in the final third. Take that sweet pre-assist pass for instance into the path of Iheanacho.

Good game, waiting for the main one on Tuesday.

Pls, any link to watch or download the full match.

Well, that's because we were the better team and that's because we did create chances. Algeria B or not, it had to be said. Didn't we struggle to do same vs lowly CAR at home in Lagos??

But what really needs to be pointed out is how we truly began to dominate and create enough chances only after Iwobi was introduced in midfield in the second half.

In the first half, we actually didn't create so much. The Onyeka-Onyedika experiment isn't a way to go at all.
