If the General commits a criminal office (murder, manslaughter etc.) against a civilian his military people can do their court martial thing and decide on whatever punishment they wish (dismissal, retirement etc.) but he will eventually be tried in a regular court.

The Nigerian judiciary may be a mess but the Nigerian army is messier. Its a race to the bottom.

You didn't follow my comments on this. I never stated at any point that he can't be tried at all. The regular police can't arrest him and he can't be tried in the regular court.

What exactly was the judge supposed to do? Beg the soldiers to comply with court orders? The judge had no option but to charge him for contempt. That's exactly what would happen to you and I if we decided to ignore a court summons or a court judgement. The COAS and his goons evidently think the rules don't apply to them.
