South Africa’s Jerusalema hitmaker Nomcebo Zikode has won her first Grammy three years after hitting global fame with ‘Jerusalema’

Zikode bagged her first Grammy in the Best Global Music Performance category with the song Bayethe a collaboration with Zakes Bantwini and Grammy winning flutist winner, Wouter Kellerman.

It was also her first nomination.

Also nominated in the category were Burna Boy, Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni, Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar.

Jerusalema became a global hit during the 2020 pandemic and went on to become the most Shazammed song in history.

The lyrics in her native IsiZulu when translated mean “Jerusalem is my home/ Guide me / Take me with You / Do not leave me here.”

Master KG featured a lot of artist for the Jerusalema remix, but the remix with burna boy is the best. I didn’t get to know the song until burna was featured. He gave the song a solid ginger - kudos to burna boy..

Pls I will like to get a visa to south Africa and travel there in march. Can I get to know more about south Africa as a first time traveler to the country, and is the visa very hard to and are working opportunities relatively available, how friendly are south Africans to Nigerians etc
