Las Las everybody na thief. Including these so called loan apps. I once got an offer from them. Only God knows how they got my number. I decided to check it out. They offered 67k to pay back 99,500 in just seven days. Lol . They need to be checkmate. Loan defaulters are at fault too but the loan apps itself are the bigger thief. They know its tempting, they know economy is hard and many people will be tempted to jump on the offer. They themselves know the seven day tenor is outrageous. Why should a lender offer 67k to pay 99,500 in just seven days? Everybody na theif abeg. If you don't know most of these apps are owned by Chinese and indians who come to your own country to harass and blackmail you.

At the end of the day even if you manage to pay it off, you'll have to borrow again because you need the money. Worst cases you find yourself borrowing from one app to pay off another app. It keeps increasing till you can no longer meet up and your finances in a huge mess.

SOMETIMES WE ARE UNABLE TO PAY BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE. READ MORE:

A few months ago, a fellow neighbour noticed me on my way back from work and decided to walk alongside me until we reached my home. His behaviour struck me as unusual, but soon enough, he explained that he had been waiting for me. Without giving me a chance to respond, he went on to request a specific amount of money.

Despite not having a close relationship with him, we had been neighbours for two and a half years. I decided to take a leap of faith and lent him the requested amount. Internally, I mentally prepared myself to consider it a loss, as my approach in recent times had been to either decline lending money or lend and then forget about it.

From that point onwards, the individual made promises but consistently failed to fulfil them. On the other hand, I chose to remain silent. I even noticed him attempting to avoid me at times, yet I feigned ignorance. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and I continued to maintain a restrained response.

Although I contemplated raising my voice when it became apparent that he had no intention of repaying, I held back. Today, to my surprise, he showed up at my doorstep to repay the debt.

This experience has taught me several valuable lessons. Firstly, many people are willing to pay their debts but may appear unreliable when they lack the means to do so. Secondly, not every situation requires shouting at debtors as a solution. Lastly, it's important to avoid judging people solely based on societal perceptions. In this case, the young man hails from a region known for its reputation as notorious debtors, but that does not define his character.

The secret of loan shark is very simple.
Before you borrow money from any loan app company, MAKE SURE you take off all your phone contact and store them in a different phone. Make sure you have FAKE contacts on the phone you are installing the loan app.
Make sure you have fake phone contacts on the phone you are installing the loan app

Make sure you have fake phone contacts on the phone you are installing the loan app smiley

Please take that information seriously.
Don't keep your original contacts on that phone you are installing that loan app.
That's is the only way they can blackmail you.
A word is enough for the wise
...how do the loan company withdraw money from the debtors bank account...do they ask for your BVN during registration?

Through your bank card when they ask you to bond your card during registration. After bonding your card, change your password or deactivate the card

The loan sharks actions are a response to a Nigerian problem. Nigerians take loans all the time with no plan to pay them back.

Multiple finance houses and lower tier banks have failed because of this.

They have identified harassment and embarrassment as a tool that can force people to pay.

I cannot fault their methods because 95% of the people who take those loans never had any plan to repay.

Let the average Nigerian become more financially honest and these companies will not resort to methods like this
Had it been you read the article above you would have not use ur twar to comment.

No one take loan without the intention of not paying but wht if you pushed to the corner.

Some of this loan sharks purposely push customers to default.

Ok, I took a loan from 9credit and on the due date there app was down, called them them but their response was I should keep trying the app.. this I do till the following day. The following day I got a call that I defaulted and if I fail to py with so so interested in will be reported to credit bureau.

Those guys are criminals.

Do not criticize cos you are ok now pls.

Some said that even if you prevent this laon people from getting your information for embarrassment , they can still withdrew your money with your bvn through the help of CBN only if you have delayed enough to pay back the loan .

If it's not easy buy loan, I am not doing.

Though theirs is expensive too, but they spread the payments.

Or better still have two bank accounts and make sure the account you used for the loan app does not store serious money at all times.

The only money there should be the one you want to use to pay back.

If that's your salary bank account, change the bank account you use to receive your salary.

Remove your pictures and documents too and never add contacts and pictures to phone.

After installing go to your settings and disable access of the app to your contact, picture and even call logs or better still delete the app after loan disbursement.

Preferable to do this on a new SIM card that you can discard after loan disbursement.
most of the loan sharks are asking for BVN before granting loan.
