They have already run out of people to blame that's why they are blaming themselves.

In my area alone, if I tell you the hectares of Land that farmers cannot cultivate because of the fear of Fulanis destroying them eeh. this issue needs urgent attention if the Government is taking food security seriously.
It's a big problem.

Chai...I'm trying hard not to laugh. Very soon, they will blame the poor people. Simple solution is; provide adequate security for farmers in the middle belt especially the food basket of the nation, disband all food item association in the market, and brings down the cost of petrol/diesel.

I stated it on one other nairaland thread that the government of Tinubu was disjointed and seems completely confused.....trying to kickstart or rekindle the economy with an inflationary budget in order to prevent the looming economic recession his thoughtless and foresight-less decisions have fostered and at the same time trying to use monetary policies to curb inflation via the CBN.....it doesn't happen anywhere...a complete diversionary approach by same government....it's a recipe for chaos and disaster. For instance, some billions of naira were remmitted to certain individuals recently under the guise of social palliatives....payments not backed by any production or surplus funds from economic growth....in a country with inflation projected to be in high 30s soonhuh Who does thathuh
He should never have accepted to devalue the currency....I don't think Nigeria can recover from that stupid decision in decades

When we warned that APC was causing more harm than good with weekend sales at discounts, with Palliatives & Stampede, instead of creating the environment for businesses to thrive, una lacked the capacity to understand, to project or plan or even Carry out WHAT-IF SCENARIOS.

Everything about APC is "TRY YOUR LUCK" ... FLOAT, & PEG, REMOVE SUBSIDY, OYA PAY ANODA SUBSIDY, BLAME, PROPAGANDA, WHITE ELEPHANT PROJECTS, LOOTOCRAZY!

No, they are not zombies. In fact, we would have been better of with zombies, at least they don't pretend to be alive and do absolutely nothing.

99% of Nigerian politicians in government have no clue what they're doing or how nations develop. Their main skill is political intrigues of how to get into power and how to sabotage their never-ending enemies. It keeps them busy between election cycles. The remaining 1% dare not do what they think because the society will eat them alive. They're there to reign for their term and 'chop' their own and leave.

This is the way of a failed society. Those who know better have already become destitute if trapped here, or have run away to sane countries.

If only Nigerians knew how backward their minds are it would be the first positive step in the right direction. But even that they don't know; they're all trapped in megalomaniac perceptions of themselves. Lol!

You have spoken well from your perspective and the first paragraph already identify who you are, the post was never in support of government, party, tribe or any affiliation, it is a pure economic observation that you should have asked for more knowledge about, but you choose to be blind to the economic reality happening to the Nigeria economy or perhaps have almost no knowledge about how the macro-economic of Nigeria runs, but i will advice that you don't just tag people "propagandist" always learn before you type.

The immediate subsidy removal is the cause of all these. But government will turn a blind eye until they eventually turn blind! Make dem dey play
I love the way you start your statement, the immediate subsidy removal subsidy is good but not the best in the long run, government of any economy subsidizing any sector of the economy should always have a long term plan of reducing the price of the product been subsidized. Nigeria as a case study should invest heavily in the petroleum sector by building refinery or engage investors to build refineries that will reduce the price of Petroleum Motor Spirit PMS in a more competitive way and reduce the burden of dollar demand. Dangote will as a matter of being a leader in the industry fix price if no good competitor surface. Tinubu government should have resume office, take a careful study of what the Subsidy scam is, so as to approach it's removal in a more better way, but the immediate removal create more problem than the good intention of his government.

Power sector should be well invested in and policy that will make the electricity sector more attractive should be put in place as against the present subsidy being paid by government in the transmitting line of the power sector, power is the engine of industrialization in any part of the world.

We as a member of the country (not just the government) should work on being trustworthy, so that investors will have confidence to invest heavily especially in the energy sector as a whole to reduce our demand for petroleum by-product outside the country with dollar.

I have actually wondered if government buying foodstuff as palliative is not actually affecting things...

It would've been better if they were released from let's say a strategic food reserve....

I think it's high time state government should be responsible for silos and food reservoirs for their states
Even if state do same thing, we will still get same result, the agricultural sector should be made attractive to private investors by reducing the level of insurgency in the country( which this government cannot achieve, because of the cabals handling the issue. Truthfully they are more powerful than the government because they are the ones the government will want to us to tame the sector and a thief will not arrest himself/herself for whatever he has stolen), if insurgency is not stopped, there is no number of policy that we can do in this country that will reduce food inflation and the general inflation. On this note, I will say that Nigeria can only be better and develop by mistake( this is a sad truth, but anyone actively in government and in-charge-of policy know this)
Re: Government Palliative Worsening Food Inflation - CBN Governor, Cardoso by ufotunang: 12:14am On May 04, 2024
I knew palliative is not the solution to all this rubbish Tinubu and APC are doing.... reduce the price of fuel, disel and appreciate the naira against the dollars then you will see that inflation will reduce and come down..prices of foodstuffs goods and services will come down and it will boost the economy and country.... and put nigerians out of poverty hunger hardship unemployment and give nigerians better life... simple

APC are definitely high on some weed. This is how they caused a lot of hardship during covid when they stock warehouse with goods masses need to buy. Prices went up and fools didn't have any clue on how to stabilize prices of goods. Lagos State Govt stop sharing food like we are Almajiri. Use that fund to create farms in cities so cost of goods can come down. Sharing food like war torn region is not sustainable.

I agree with your submission my guy...

But that doesn't take away the fact that we need food reservoirs at the state level...

undoubtedly, the state must always interfere when their is market failure and negative shock in the economy, to see to the welfare of the low income earner and those that are vulnerable to the negative shock.

The truth is state intervention is crucial in every economy, even the so-called America that is telling us to remove subsidy is heavily subsidizing their Agricultural sector. the fact is there on the internet. I believe Nigeria will be great in our time.

Amen Bro Amen...
I think we need to demand more from our state and LGA governments...

FG is not everything bro, don't get me wrong, FG get their blame... But it's disheartening to hear the federal government release grains from strategic reserve... I think we need to decentralize a lot of things

I agree with you 100%, the state is one of our major problem, i am not a party member to any political parties, i support anyone who does good irrespective of party, religion, ethnic group or whatsoever the affiliation maybe, our state government need to step up if truly they love the people they are representing, no one of them has come out to accuse Tinubu so far for not giving them what they deserve aside the state police we are not ripe to have, but in all honesty, he has given them, moral and financial support to scale through the present storm we are all facing, it is this same state governors that are holding back the money that belong to Local Government and making them underperform(Local Government Autonomy is highly needed, so that the LGA chairmen can be held accountable for whatever fund they recieve) to the best of my knowledge, the present federal government is trying, though i am not saying they are not corrupt ooo, but no section of the government has accused them wrongly aside the vulnerable man on the street that can't see the front.

Anytime so much money chases a particular commodity, the price of that commodity goes up.

This shouldn't be hard to comprehend.
