The average lifespan of solar panels is about 25 to 30 years. Over time, their efficiency may decrease slightly, but many panels continue to produce electricity beyond their warranty period. According to Solar system for house, regular maintenance and monitoring can extend their useful life. Advances in solar technology are continually improving the durability and efficiency of panels, making solar power a reliable long-term investment for homeowners.

Good evening Pocohantas. Hope you're doing ok? Hope your Dad is better now?

I'm sorry to quote you here,
Please I need your advise. My brother, our last born is going to write Jamb this year. He's an art student, he's actually the first in my family daring to go to the university and I am thankful generational boundaries will finally be broken. The problem is my 17 year old brother doesn't know what course to study in uni, he's the baby of the house, I fit even born him, so I don't want to be harsh on him, or make him feel he isn't serious or push him into further confusion.he said he doesn't have passion for any course he just have passion to go to uni, get a good paying job and make money.
Asides Law, Please what other high paying jobs can an art student study in the university. I completely trust your judgement. Please help 🙏

Good morning, Gratefulheart!

Happy new year to you.
No problem at all. I am fine.

Happy for your brother.

Why do you say asides Law? He doesn't like Law? 😃

Tbh, I am of the belief that no course is entirely useless. The problem is Nigerian doesn't recognise and patronise professionals in other unpopular fields. So if one is going to be stuck in Nigeria or japa for economic reasons, you cannot afford to be found studying these courses.

If my child wants to study an Art course, I would sell Psychology, International Relations and Linguistics before Law. Not because I hate Law, but because every Art student wants to study it. I would give my child the guidance to thrive in a less saturated niche. Now that I am older and interract with friends and acquaintances at intermediate career levels, I have discovered the course is not always the problem. It is what we do with them. Some courses can standalone. This is where Law has an advantage over other Art courses. You can thrive on a small level without add-ons. The others would need you to be very strategic and ambituous to get into specific organisations that have your core at heart.

Law is not high paying for the majority by the way. I was shocked when I found out what Law firms pay them. In 2024, I had a conversation with another young lawyer and remained shocked that nothing much has changed in years. Though they can do a lot on the side to make extra professional income. The most successful lawyers I know (2 males), switched to financial/tech aspect of Law.

If there is no plan to guide him post-graduation, let him aim for Law. 🙂

Happy new year to you too Poco!
I don't know you in person, but I love you already.
Thank you very much for breaking everything down for me. I am very grateful.
He doesn't like how long it takes to study law but let me sell it to him once again, hopefully he'll give it a thought.
May you always be blessed Pocohantas, thank you for making time to attend to me.

He is just 17. He has enough time and energy. It is a professional course, so it has to take time. If he studies another Art course, let's say Linguistics - he would have to take language courses later. It is either now or in future. I was about to say the choice is his, but changed my mind. The choice shouldn't be his sef. grin

You are most welcome.
Always a pleasure...🙏
