Government can remove or replace Emir of Kano not like Oba of Benin.
Kings can be replaced, this is Nigeria.

The crown should respect itself first.

So when the British government votes millions for their royal family nko?..it means the whites are their own greatest enemies.?
In what ways are the looters we hail as personal and tribal leaders competent and productive for the communities and country in comparison with British royal family?

If those we allow to emerge from among us into leadership positions are as hardworking to the benefit of the people as the British royal family is, then why would we be packing oursleves there and bragging about japa huh

The migrant crisis in Libya and the Nigeria experience

The drive for survival and for greener pastures has continued to force millions of West African young men and women to gamble with death in attempts to cross over to Europe and other parts of the world. This quest to escape poverty, hunger, unemployment and insecurity, among other reasons, caused a major segment of Nigeria’s population to seek alternatives for better livelihood prospects for themselves and their families.

Those seeking economic survival see irregular migration as the best alternative, given the difficulty and resources involved in migrating through regular and legitimate routes. In many instances, very few of the original number who set out on these dangerous journeys live to tell their stories. While many regularly drown in the Mediterranean Sea, many also die in the deserts, and others are sold as slaves in a modern slave market.

Most of the victims of this trade are from West Africa. Many of them leave home with expectations of getting to Europe and other destinations perceived to have better economic prospects for them, but they end up in the slave merchant nets in North Africa. The victims are put in camps and sold in open markets in Libya, while the international community watches in silence. The geographical location of Libya renders it a transit route for migrants journeying to Italy and many other parts of Europe.

One thing is, none of your likes can crawl under my skin. I determine my mood. I alone.

If you think you can remove the Oba, well, good luck with trying but I guess even your father will not tell me to shut up.

Have a nice day if you will

It seems like the Kano State government and governor likes to put itself into plenty controversy and controversial issues.
So they still have SG/LG joint account !!!!

We are awaiting Emir Bayero to make a pronouncement against this through the appropriate channels.

chisomkachy:
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

A lot of british people tend to think the royal family are a drain on the national income.

At the end, we got to stop hating our race. Whites are not better than us.

the amount is not so bad

New cars are expensive. it not even up to $1million in total. So let's just say abt 3 to 4 cars that the said amount can carry.

Do you expect the emir to use second hand cars like most Nigerians ?

Let criticise with reasoning

We just love our feudalism. Perhaps this country will have been better served as a monarchy so that the royal houses can bring in tourist dollars and be like the British monarchy which is a profitable institution.

Imagine what is being spent in this regime of crushing poverty.

No conscience at all..... sad.

The government can remove the Oba.

It's a side effect of colonial rule whereby traditional rulers were in essence made subordinate to the secular authority.

But most Obas since the last independent one have been largely neutral and basically don't mount opposition to the government so government leaves them in place
Hope u know what happened when Obaseki and his cohorts sued the Oba?

The net income of the British royal family to the UK economy amounted to some 1.8 billion pounds. Still the average Briton severely criticizes their lifestyles.

If the folks back here can mirror same, no one will bother. But a mandatory tax takes their Nigerian counterparts back to medieval times and the rule of the Gauls and the Romans and how many great empires collapsed because of this kind of thing.

It is indeed surprising that this kind of thing can happen under denocratic rule without resistance. There is something not quite right with what we practice.

And yet there are thousands of almajiri roaming the streets and roads of Kano State begging for foods and water. Some of them within the age brackets 11 and 13 years old have taken to hard drugs and sniffing of stuffs detrimental to their health. If this whooping amount of money is spent on the almajiriji by the Kano government many of them would have been pulled out of the streets and roads and become useful to the society.I sorry for Naija.

The Oba is a monarch in Edo state.

He is also the head of all traditional rulers in Edo state...
This means that he holds an office with the Edo state government as the head of all traditional rulers in Edo state...

This does not mean that without the staff given by the government, he still won't be coronated..
Try as much as possible to read more.
