Note: Oyo is the only town I have seen in yoruba land where they respect their ruler (Alafin). Here is my experience:

In 2001, I was in Oyo town, precisely the "Akesan market", just in front of the dead Fire station close to the palace. I was dealing with a market woman, some minutes after, the traditional trumpet "Kakaki" was blown, I think to announce to the public Alafin was leaving the Palace, some seconds after was a long convoy of badh cars and SUVs, my next obeservation was seeing the woman I was buying things from, dropping what she held, went on her kneels, face down, shouting "Kabiyesi oo", even when Kabiyesi won't see her doing so.

That was my 1st time in Oyo, it was so strange to me, someone told me that was the old tradition and some still observe it till 2001, am not sure of post 2001

I have lived and visited many Yoruba town, including Ife, I haven't seen such respect being given to their King.....

He's the Alaafin, highest traditional position in Yoruba so what do you expect? But the truth is every true Yoruba would bow and greet his king, though now everything is spoiling causing of the Western influence but mostly cause of the federal government seems to shift them aside in matters of the nation which is not suppose to be so.
