Chelsea FC have been fined a record £10.7 million and handed a suspended 12-month transfer ban after investigations found the club made undisclosed payments during the ownership era of former owner Roman Abramovich.

The sanction was confirmed by the Premier League following a probe into historical financial dealings linked to player transfers between 2011 and 2018.

Under the ruling, Chelsea will not face an immediate transfer ban.

However, the one-year restriction on registering first-team players has been suspended for two years, meaning the penalty will only take effect if the club commits further breaches within that period.

In addition to the £10.7 million fine — the largest ever imposed by the Premier League — Chelsea have also been banned from signing academy players registered with the Premier League or the English Football League for nine months and fined an additional £750,000 over separate rule violations.

According to the Premier League, the investigation established that several payments linked to the club were not disclosed to football authorities at the time.

“As a result of the Premier League’s investigation, it was established that between 2011 and 2018, undisclosed payments by third parties associated with the club were made to players, unregistered agents and other third parties,” the league said in a statement.

According to The Athletic's latest report, Chelsea have been charged a £10 m fine for breaching Premier League financial rules and one-year suspension from buying first-team players.

This punishment comes from the breaches during Roman Abramovich's time as owner of the club.

According to the Athletic's up-to-date report, the ban is suspended over two years, meaning that Chelsea will still be able to register senior players if they do not commit any further breaches.

There will be no sporting sanctions, including deduction of points in Premier League, included.

This first-team charge is highly related to incomplete financial reporting and missed payments from 10 years ago. This will not impact the club's compliance with Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules.

This is not the first time it's happening to Chelsea...the last time.. Chelsea performed very well even with academy players being promoted...Chelsea will survive this too

Na the mods I blame sha. Most times, they push sensational headlines that are disconnected from the news.

And majority we signed are shakushaku. The headline is misleading. Chelsea isn't banned yet.

What is happening in the EPL for goodness sake? When every other team is found wanting, they are investigated and punished accordingly, almost immediately too. But Man City, this team has been sitting on 115 disciplinary infractions for about 3-4 years now without any punishment.

England just keeps on finishing Chelsea FC.

Since they took it forcefully from Roman and handed it over to this clueless American ownership the club has fell in-terms of ambition and goals.

Now they are stretching it further with confusing restrictions even if not going to be effected immediately. How about Manchester City?

They won't sign players into their academy except under-9 players. The transfer ban doesn't affect the senior team. The new owners reported the club to Premier league when they saw some discrepancies from the previous owner, Abrahimovich

Chelsea just learned that the past doesn't disappear. It waits.

Ten years ago, someone at that club decided to pay agents and players through hidden channels. It worked. Trophies came. Nobody complained.

Then Abramovich fell. New owners arrived. And in the basement of Stamford Bridge, they found skeletons. They did what smart people do: they brought them to the light themselves before someone else did.

The result: a record fine, a suspended ban, and a clean slate. Expensive? Yes. But cheaper than what would have happened if the league found out on their own

This is what I keep saying. I'm a Man United fan and they have been myth over the years that Man United is ojoro under Fergie, Howard Webb is a Man United fan and favors Man United bla bla bla. But till date, not even one person has come out with any evidence regarding those claims against Man United.
