Redesigned from the frame up, Land Rover has turned its sportiest SUV into the preferred family-vehichle and chics magnet for those who like to show they demand the very best in SUVs. The Range Rover Sport still has its iconic and stately looks. The sharp angles and blocky sections from the previous generation have been rounded out and correctly proportioned. The old design felt as if it was designed by a brick-layer while its new look feels more elegant.

that rear view shot looks great! looks way better than the 3rd generation mercedes ML, I wonder what tuners like Hammann will do when they eventually lay their hands on it. Still waiting for the official shots of the new bmw X5 M and next generation X6.. |

Overall, the Range Rover Sport is 2.5 inches longer than its predecessor, but the wheelbase has increased by 7 inches. The proportional changes give this Rover a much more aggressive and streamlined appeal. And don't underestimate the luxury SUV's brute off-road capabilities. The Range Rover Sport will get you and 6 passangers nearly anywhere in this world and also through any flooded or pot-holed road Nigeria has to offer.

Now it will do it even quicker. Under that beautifully sculpted clamshell hood is either a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 or a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. Really, the V-6 with 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque is more than enough power to flog the Range Rover Sport through Third Mainland bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway or any road in Abuja. Land Rover estimates its 0-60-mph time as 6.9 seconds, but the Sport feels faster than that. The 5.0 V8 is the revelation here. It dispatches 0-60-mph (approx 95km/h) in 5.0 seconds. This is one of the fastest cars/suvs you'll ever meet on Nigerian roads....It can move faster than a badly driven Porshe 911. If you're truely in the mood, no one can overtake you in this car.

A big story with the Range Rover Sport is how much weight it has lost. It's as if Princess(The female comedien) suddenly shows up looking like Genevieve. From its all-aluminum unibody structure and use of high-strength steel components to lightweight suspension parts and body panels, the Range Rover Sport sets a new standard for weight reduction. The Range Rover Sport even has an eco-friendly theme -- something you don't hear often when discussing 500-plus-hp SUVs. Up to 75 percent of its aluminum comes from recycled materials; there are recycled plastics (59 pounds), and, technically, leather is renewable. Leather is also a key feature to that beautiful interior. The 14-way-adjustable front seats are heated and cooled and just one massage session away from perfect. The riding position is very upright, making it extremely comfortable for long hauls. The second row can serve as two lounge chairs if you fold down the center portion, which becomes an armrest and cupholder. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the Range Rover Sport provides an optional third row that can accommodate two kids or slim chics for the trip to your Lekki apartment. There's very little you can't get with the new Range Rover Sport, and very little more you should want.

As for the ladies, people staring at you at bustops or in traffic and drivers of the previous generation Range Rover Sports, none was harmed in the making of this review. Yet, in Nigeria, people with the money may see this SUV as just another lamb on the menu. Don't be fooled: Under that nicely painted aluminum skin is a wolf. And it's hungry. If Range Rover Sports were getting too plentiful on Nigerian roads, its time to seperate the boys from the men. You've got the keys?? ......Now put your shades on and drive. |

I was called to test drive one last week in Asokoro and check that everything is ok. Meeeeeeennnnnnnn, this car is a dream to drive although its the 3.0 supercharged, the power Is awesome. |

car-doctor:The Supercharged 3.0 V-6 is a more reasonably option, its fast and it saves fuel better than the 5.0 spercharged V-8. Its faster than an Suv should be. Its crazy. |

Nothing changed in the new Range Rover Sport. All the options are the same with the 2011 model. It is only the extra seats at the rear that was added and the new cockpit. Which roads were you talking about? Range Rover Sport does not have good off road capabilities. I was stuck in the mud in Games Village for two hours on a rainy day in my RRS and all the terrain options could do nothing. I waded thru river niger when it overwhelmed the express way and I had my headlight charger burnt.I change my bushings every time I travel from Lagos to Abuja with the jeep. As for performance, no comparison. Driving a supercharged RRS on regular unleaded fuel is going to cause grievous wahala for the owners so no need to be envious of the latest model when we that are using the ancien modele are still waiting for Nigeria to start selling premium fuel. |

RRS is all over Nigerian roads and apart from its high fuel consumption, I think you just had a couple of bad days with the SUV. 1 Like |
