garri4all:

Hi Bandit,
I'm studying in Austria and I want to cross to Germany for my M.Sc once I'm done with my B.Sc
What parts of Germany is education free? How much is the student health insurance per month?
What university did you finish from? What did you study?
Are there M.Sc courses available in Englisch?
I hope to get a reply

Generally, Studies in German Universities are Tuition free. Some programmes offered in English do charge some fees, but most of those are MBA courses. Competition is very high, so apply to as many universities as your resources can carry you. Health Insurance depends on your age. If you are below 30, you can be insured (mostly mandatory) with the Govt Insurance agencies (cost is around 80 euros per month), but above 30, you either take up a private policy with the govt insurance agencies (cost ranges from around 120 for males to 180 for females per month) or go with many private insurance agencies (cheaper, but cumbersome - ranges between 40-60 euro per month).

The language is very important. It's advisable that you make every effort to learn it. Most universities offer German language courses to go along with lectures for as little as 20-50 euro per semester.

Students, irrespective of where they reside, are able to find something to do and sustain themselves while studying. So people shouldn't restrict themselves to Universities in big cities

Rickywowoz: Thanks alot boss..... if you are to choose between. Berlin, north-rhine Westphalia, munich and Hamburg in terms of job opportunities for someone that studied chemical engineering... Which will you choose

North Rhine Westphalia is a very big region with the highest population in Germany and lots of industries. It is a perfect place for engineering students to begin their career and they have some of the most hospitable people you could meet in Germany.

The state of Hesse has lots of industries too, quite notably, the Industrie Park situated in Frankfurt (it's as big as a small village in Nigeria) and would be the dream of any body who studied Chemical Engineering since all the companies situated there are the some of the biggest Chemical Companies in the world. Think BASF, BAYER, SANOFI, CLARIANT and so on. Other than that, Frankfurt is a purely banking and Stock exchange city with gigantic banking buildings.

Berlin does not offer much in terms of industries. It is a town where politicians, secretaries and assistants thrive. Think Abuja.

Other than that, the state of Hamburg is also another huge industrial region with lots of importing and exporting going on.

Bavaria is good (don't know much about it) but I heard that the people dwelling there are some of the most unpleasant people to meet. They even look down on other Germans and have some of tbe most effed up accent you can come across in Germany. Unfortunately they have some of the best looking german girls.

Whatever you do, stay away from East Germany. They hate you and are proud of it.

Sorry Bro. You would need the german language for your undergraduate courses. In recent years, many universities are now offering some courses both in english and german, depending on what you are studying but the courses offered in german only might be more.

I have actually heard that some Universities are now offering full undergraduate programmes in English but I think they are majorly private universities.

V_Official®:
I'm actually planning on writing about the sustenance of living in Germany but time is not yet on my side, these might be of help:

#1 learn the language- visit http://deutschkurse.dw.de/KursPlattform/WebObjects/KursPlattform.woa/wa/UAAuthDA/auth?par=G5n9lnSPUIqm93qsNXWNH45V0 you'll have free intensive courses from A1.1. Follow it diligently and i promise you'll jump more than two classes like i did.

#2 Know that your 8000 will one day finish, use it to invest in yourself before it finishes

#3 Try to get some related experiences at home

#4 Know how to write a very good and 'BULKY' CV

#5 Do not settle for less, it might be difficult at first but even if you're paid 10 Euro/ hour to clean a toilet never ever stay more than two weeks before you get something better.. reason being that, everything over here is (what are your experiences?) If you clean toilet for a month, your experience will be just that and when you finish studying, you'll start from entry level in your chosen career.

I'm in the movie industry over here. Although it's not that easy but i got my first job after 6 months (I packaged my self and able to BACK UP everything on my CV)
My German, gives me the attention, My CV makes them think twice and my intelligence gives me the key to manipulate them LAWFULLY- Only if you know the LAW can you OUTSMART it without BREAKING it. Have an aim, follow it diligently.
GOODLUCK!!!
very educating piece of writing, Thanks alot for the info.... Which city are you and what program are you running?

It is true; some Universities in Germany are now offering undergraduate studies completely taught in English these days and free too such as Rhine Waal University of Applied Sciences and HTW Berlin. Links are pasted below, but I know places are kind of competitive.
