I wish I could help you there bro, don't know much about electrical designs. But I believe autocad has an electrical design version, just like for civil, mechanical etc try get your hands on that.

Yeah. The interface of autocad 3d is not as user friendly as most other 3D design software. Is it just autocad you are proficient in?

If you are good in it, then its shouldn't be too much trouble leading any other software. So if you feel like learning any other software, it will be easy.

Amazing, it all depends on the passion for it. If you have passion for it and not just doing it for doing sake, you can do it in little time. You can lean on your own, just go to youtube they're loads of vids there.

Autocad for nigerian coys, solidworks and proengineer for coys abroad and catia v5 for aerospace and automobile design coys. But these are just the basics you should need if you wish to go into design. These are others you need like FEA tools and so on.

I wanted to learn pdms once but stopped, it wasn't really want I wanted. I wasn't looking to go into that and the whole process engineering thing.

But maybe I might give it a try sometime in the future, who knows.

Very possible, like I stated. You've got to have that passion and determination. And a lot of patience as well.

Well it depends on which area and sector. Like EngrBouss mentioned, most Nigerian enginerring and oil companies demand for autocad, pdms and some process softwares. My guess would be because most of them don't really design and manufacture, maybe they just interpret already designed drawings.

FEM is very cool, however it mostly used where the manufacturer the part already designed. So it's not so important in the Nigerian environment.

@ EngrBouss some software come with FEM like solidworks, autocad though you have to install as a pugin.
