Hmmmmm! it is a pity to have people like this on board. I think we need age and qualification to admit people in this blq; where in the constitution says 'if you are in opposition you should vacate the office' shame on you guy; no matter what, the guy is still the number four man and let me tell you something, doing this to him is a security breach and tantamount to treason on the parliamentary arm of the govt.
I have realized that it is my civic responsibility to vote so i have resolved in my heart that i will vote individual; as i am talking to you am thinking of voting out the Chairman in my area, an APC member; i voted him in before now but he is not performing; so guy think with your head not your stomach.

The KEY issue most people seem to miss out is that you MUST first be a member in order to be elected Speaker.
So if one dumps the party that sponsored him and IF that party decides to pursue him in court he RISKS not being a member any longer hence you cannot even be eligible ab initio to be a Speaker.
Hope you see how this flows.

Anyway I wish this PARTICULAR rogue plenty of luck in dealing with his fellow rogues on both sides of the party divide.

Your pre-emptive stance won't change anything. Tambuwal enjoys the support of all. His emergence as against PDP's choice, Mulikat Akande, is a testimony.

Learn where u argue from before you speak. The house leader isn't necessarily meant to come from the party with the majority, it only seems so because the majority usually have the power to sway decisions in their favour. There is nothing in the constitution that compels the speaker to resign, if PDP have 2/3 majority then let them have a field day impeaching the good fellow. Pulling his security posse (if this is true), is beyond criminal considering the fact that Ali Modu Sheriff has an entourage reportedly larger than a sitting governor's.

What if the news was so brokered to tarnish the image of the FG? What if it never happened the way it is being published? Most beggars cut parts of their body just to get people sympathy and then their favour. What if we are being faced with similar scenerio? It was because of the numerical strength of the PDP legislators that made them elect Tambuwal, and now that he has defected to another party and no impeachable offenses against him,he still remain the speaker of the house.

The only condition where he can be removed is for PDP legislators to search Tambuwal cupboard for any skeleton if found, then impeachment notice is serve if nothing, Tambuwal ride on joooor.

Why is everybody asking the wrong questions?

Should the federal government be in charge of appointing security details to elected officials?

The state security service should be independent on this regard and should assign details to top elected officials following the constitution and using their own discretion. If Aso rock is in charge of VIP security apparatus, who will withdraw Jonathan's detail if he is removed from office? You cant be the judge, jury and executioner.

Please guys download a copy of the Constitution and read. I don't like when people comment without backing it up with authority.

There is nothing our Constitution that says a Speaker of House of Reps should resign if he changes his party. By the way, it was not PDP that installed him as the speaker. Please check your facts/authority before commenting.

The security details are just to make our big men really feel big and protect them from those of us they are looting.
Pure & simple.

Get it right....Members of the house made Tambuwal the speaker not PDP.

Tambuwal had always maintained the principle of separation of power between the House of Representatives and the Presidency. Despite being the a member of the ruling PDP, he spoke out against the excesses of the Presidency. Remember he famously said that the President's body language suggests he encourages corruption. He was neutral and non-partisan in the discharge of his duty as Speaker. He did not make the house a mere rubber stamp of the Presidency and PDP just as the Senate has become. All these could be attributed to the circumstances that led to his emergence as speaker.

We have seen this type of politics before, Obasanjo played it during his tenure expecially with Tinubu, but what happen? Tinubu still survived, sometimes we underestimate the ability or potencials of a determine person. It would be difficult for Jonathan to have Tambulwa impeached, those northerns would rally around there own anytime, anyday irrespective of party affiliations. And if he pushes it hard, it might have a boomerang effect on him. The Na'Abba/ Obj wahala comes to mind.

Is it that nobody read this story or that they read but did not understand? There is nowhere in the story that it is written that Tambuwal's security aides have been withdrawn.

This is a sponsored the-best-form-of defence-is-attack story. Tambuwal and his APCheats are envisaging that such might happen in the future hence they are using a friendly newspaper, daily trust to whip up sentiments and win public sympathy in case FG decides to act.

If you read the story well, you would have noticed that it said an intelligence came that there were PLANS to withdraw the security aides. But many read the just the headline and started blabbing.

It is just another APCheat propaganda. It is very typical.

Bros go and read section 68 subsection 1 of the 1999 constitution. Tambuwal is no longer a member of the HOR let alone its speaker
