he attacks tenaciously, he defends even more brilliantly. what's more? he doesn't make mistakes or get caught upfield as a result of walkabouting like evra, ashley, gibbs, clichy, etc. he's 100% perfect!

he barely offers anything going forward, even when hes @ RB. that is not really the modern type of full back an attacking manager will pick; the Zabaletas, Nevilles, Ivanovics, Rafaels, Alvez, Maicons-styled full backs will get considerations before his type. above average defending & great executing attacks, it is very rare tho you get a player that's great @ both altho Maldini comes to mind

ask anyone that has been watching chelsea this season & they would tell you azpi has been the their best player. when have you ever seen azpi get beaten, get caught out or doing something stüpid to cause a grave defensive error?

zabaleta, ivanovic, maicon, evra, etc take too many risks in their style of football & they get punished for it. azpi is a different animal...he knows when to go forward & when to hold. if he knows going forward might put his team in danger, he holds & when he bombs forward, the space he leaves behind never gets exploited by the opponents - something you cannot say about the names you have mentioned earlier.

i know the season is still young but from what i have seen so far, azpi has been 100% in all the games he's featured. not even his team mates in the chelsea defence can come near him in the way he excellently reads the game. he's been nothing short of total perfection for his team.
