Seun, Want to engage users more? then don't skip this feature. a ranking feature will help alot, users can vote about this new feature if they'll like it.. but please sir we need a ranking feature to show which user has more respect and it will urge users to try hard not to derail posts and become more reasonable and active here. ranking like "Miss/King Nairaland = crown", then you rank according to number posts and likes recieved. rank may be with an icon in forums. you know alot bout forums and you know the rank feature was designed for forums to engage users even google product forums has a ranking feature but now nairaland has no rank feature which makes the forum boring at some point (itz not a boring forum, just at some point). so the engagement rate is not 100%... think bout it. what makes a forum better is trying to respond to, and implementing users feedbacks. "ranking" won't derail the forum unless you design it harmfully. Give my idea a good thought. Thanks.

Sometime ago, there used to be a forum at goal.com before they shut it down for reasons best known to them. There was a ranking system based on the number of posts and topics are particular person has, etc. The higher the ranking the more the stars a person has and other stuffs like that. Then you see people opening threads to celebrate achieving a milestone such as having a thousand posts etc.


several other forums that I have visited have similar features, and I remember wondering why nairaland doesn't have one.


I think adding a feature like that to nairaland would make it more interesting. it might be based on the number of likes and shares a person has, number of topics opened, threads that make front page, etc

Nairaland is filled with intellectuals; doctors, engineers, businessmen,teachers, lawyers, journalists,writers etc. These people have no time to be bragging about nairaland reputation when they have seminars to present, clients to defend, patients to treat, etc. As someone said, it would make it childish and 2go-like. Once upon a time, people have gone as far as blogging on how to hack and boost "ordinary" 2go stars. When such features are introduced in a forum like nairaland, quality of posts will reduce cause people ( children) in the bid to make more posts to gain higher reputation , will turn this forum into a gabbage.
