Goodday fellow dog lovers, I recently got a 3months old female rottweiler puppy,duly vaccinated and dewormed, very smart and agile. I got her a bag of diamond puppy(large breed) dry food but she only eats very little and thereafter looses interest, she eats meat and fish without any problem whatsoever but not dry food. Pls how can I make her eat more of the dry food cos I learnt it's very good for pups and besides it wud be a huge waste on my part as it already cost me much to get it, any help at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Also got some tips about soaking the food in meat water or milk, did those but all she does is lick then food and not necessarily eating them. Thanks.

Definitely she wasn't brought up with dry food. Give her multivitamin tablets, take the food away for a day, then give her a day after. Try that.

thanks bro, she was brought up with Arion dry food, started with diamond cos I heard it was very good, already giving her vetzyme multivitamin tablets, but don't u think the more I keep giving meat and fish (though just one day like u said) the less likely she'll ever be interested in dry food? Just curious sha.

When I feed my dogs raw for a while, they begin to go off dryfood. They won't want to eat much. And when I do dry food for a long time, it takes time before they be able to eat raw. So take ur dog off meat of fish and get her accustomed to d dry food. Once shez good with dry, u can then serve both together

U can also mix the dry food with canned food, see if she eats it.

What was ur dog dewormed with?

Don't forget to put her on a day fasting. It'll help her appetite

she was dewormed with prazisam (containing praziquantel and pyrantel I think)...thanks alot for ur help, I appreciate.

I saw this post on canine Nigeria Facebook page and I thought a lot have helped. I'm a raw feeder but my dogs still eat dry incase I'm not around and I need to board somewhere else. You don't need to waste your money on vitamins nd no reason to deworm again. Just drop the food, come back in 40 mins and remove it if your dog doesn't touch it yet, make sure you didn't feed him for the whole day. I'm sure he will eats little the next day and sooner or later he will get accustom to dry. Some dogs prefer unprocessed food though but it's your dog and you decide what to eat.

I understand, dogs could be funny but we must not forget they are animals, so we should sometimes treat then as one. Mali are doing great thanks.

hav been up wif dix same problems tho,i suggest u take her 4 a lng run or jog 2 burn out d energy in her nd it wil make her feel hungry,dix works perfectly well 4 me nd i tink it wuld do d same 4 u,sowie 4 askn does she live in a kennel all dai?

My Neapolitan Mastiff had the same issues. Cut up meat the size of the dry food. Boil it and allow some water enough to moisten the dry feed. Mix with the feed, serve when cold and watch what happens. Never seen a dog that resisted bonrs or meats. Note if the meat is in large pieces, the dog will only pick it and leave the feed

I have got a 3 months old rottweiler puppy. I am currently feeding him royal canin starter. You should do lots of research to find the best food for rottweiler puppy . Anyway good luck and happy breeding!
