Hello gurus of this section Oghene, LadyGuinivere, Chloe7, LadyG, Fredoricko, tzetzefly, suxes2005, tee12345 and other gurus. Please I need your opinion on this quick question, a friend just got a visa to the USA. He said he was going to attend a seminar. However, he doesn't want to attend the seminar once he gets to the USA. I want to know, on his behalf, whether it is possible for him to boycott the seminar and just spend the few days of the seminar relaxing in the USA for a few days after which he plans to be back in Nigeria?

Also, can one be granted a visa when once has just the invitation to attend a seminar alone and plans to pay for the seminar and hotel accommodation on arrival at the seminar venue in the USA?

Thanks in advance for taking out time to offer your advise and opinions. God bless you and yours!

Ist Lady G and LadyGuinivere na one and the same. smiley
2nd. If the conference people do not contact the embassy to indicate the fellow never showed, kosi wahala. (My reason for saying this is, doctoresparati in the birthing section, if he gives u letter of responsibility to get the visa and u no come show, e de contact embassy. I don't know if there are other overzealous folks out there)
3rd. History on this thread has shown that paid up conferences with relevance to the intending visitor's field has greater possibility of success
Lastly, I hope say your friend no be 'disappering act' visitor o? This one e wan use em visa for another purpose. Make e go come back o! No pour sand sand for other conference people!
Cheers!gringrin

@myspnigeria I hold in reserve all right to the use of 'LadyG' lolz.

except he is a guest speaker at the conference, I dnt see why the consulate will ge contacted. But as to why he'll apply for conference and not attend calls into question the reason for his travel. Hope he isn't lookin at migrating oooo

Hello House,

I am a just a fresh graduate and I saw one seminar/conference that I will like to attend. I am presently awaiting service for which I will be going for in OCT. I have like 500k in my personal account and I can use my mom's statement of account too if the need arises.

The question is apart of the confirmation letter of the conference and my statement of account, what else will I need and what are my chances?

Thanks.

So long as he goes in at the time of the conference don't see any problem. The first time I went to US. I applied and actually attended the conference but it was easter so I spent my easter there. The conference was for 3 days, I stayed 3 weeks. I know a couple that applied for conference too and didn't attend but travelled for the conference period. They've travelled severally after without issues.
Major thing is u travel on dates u filled in ur Ds160

All first timers have to appear for an interview in person at the person after filling the form online.
After success, subsequent applications are via dropbox

You must say what you have on ur ds160 form. If the date has changed u'll explain to the officials at poe. That's if it's not a conference. It it's a conference, u must go on the date specified on ur form, if it's vacation u're free to move dates. Except u want to fill another form and rebook ur interview which means paying another fee.

So what happens if I cant make that particular conference but was able to make it on the next date the same conference is to be held? More so since its a B1/B2 visa

[quote author=RichEstate post=31522860]good day great people. please i need your advice on how to go about US visa. i am currently in dubai, working on a two years visa(just spent 6months). my questions are1. how do i go about moving to US to work? 2. can i apply from here or need to go back home? whats the % of its success? thank u.
If you are on a two years visa, you don't need to come back home to apply, once you have upto ten thousand dirams in your account, with your employer's supporting letters you are good to go, especially when you are due to go on a yearly paid hollidays.i and my family having been getting visas from dubai to canada, America and newziland, though we are on resident visa.

Hi Oghene migwo! Chloe7 migwo! LadyG migwo! Fredoricko migwo! Justwise, tzetzefly, suxes2005, tee12345 and d rest of d team

Kindly avail me your thoughts on my dilemma as stated below:

QUES 1.
I and my wife 'playfully' (ie without any serious intention to immigrate) applied for DV 2012 and we didnt even bother to find out whether we won or not, though we didnt get any correspondence that we had been selected.

Fastforward to 2015, myself, wify and 2 children are planning to apply for tourist visa to the US.

Do you think that 'playful' DV application will not be our undoing now (cos I dont know whether our names will pop up in their system as people who have once applied for DV before(immigration visa) now applying for non-immigrant tourist visa)

N/B:
We have previously travelled as a family to the UK in 2013 and will be doing same this year.

Thank you all as I await your response.

Playing the DV lottery in the past has nothing to do with applying for Visit visa now

hello guys a colleague wants to renew her b1/b2 visa which she has used 2x but cant remember the date she imputed in her mothers date of birth and there;s an option of her ticking NOT RELEVANT is it safe for her to tick not relevant rather than fill another date that she is not sure will tally with the initial date on the form.

I have a friend that was sent back at poe for this O! Cos they said the conference was passed so what was he still coming to do. That it means he must have used to conference as a lie to get visa.
For US, ur first visit is very sensitive at poe, subsequent visits, u fit say u wan come piss sef (lol). If the dates are passed, I don't know what u'll do. Let other more knowledgeable tell us.
My friend's visa was cancelled. He said a couple who claimed at the embassy were coming for a wedding, that came after the wedding were blacklisted and banned for 10yrs.
So be careful.
