COUNT ON GOD'S FORGIVENESS

Hebrews 10:2...For the worshipers,once purified,would have had no more consciousness of sins.

What are you more conscious of today? Your sins or the fact that you have been forgiven?
My friend,don't be conscious of your sins.Be conscious instead of Jesus and his finished work.The Lamb of God has taken away all your sins at the cross,so count on the fact that you area forgiven child of God!

No matter what has happened or what you have done,God wants you to know that because of His Son's finished work,He will be merciful to your unrighteousness,and your sins and lawless deeds he will remember no more.(Hebrews 8:12)

That is why you should not be conscious of your sins. In fact,when you are sin-conscious, the devil brings in condemnation,and the more you receive it and condemn yourself,the more you will find yourself unforgiving toward yourself and even others.

I was told by a pastor friend that when a lady,who had cancer on her face,asked for prayer for healing,the Lord revealed to him that it was self-hatred that was keeping her from receiving her healing. She could not forgive herself and was full of self condemnation.

When she realized her problem,she counted on the fact that God was merciful to her unrighteousness and that she was already forgiven. She received the love of God.Then, right before the pastor's eyes,her whole face changed-she received her healing that very moment!

Something happens when you believe that you are forgiven.That is why God says to you, "I want you to believe that all your sins I will remember no more.I want you to believe that you are My child enjoying My mercy and that you can always count on My forgiveness."

Beloved,remember that all your sins have already been paid for by Jesus on the cross. And the more you count on the fact that you have the Father's forgiveness and that He does not condemn you because of Jesus' finished work,the more sin and its effects-sickness,hatred,lack and so on-will lose their grip on you.You will find yourself walking in a greater measure of God's grace and blessings!
One thing you will want to do today is to "Count on the fact that you are a forgiven child of God."

HOW YOU KNOW YOU WILL INHERIT IT

Psalm 89:34 My covenant I will not break,nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.

When God promises you something,do you take Him at HisWord?Or do you,like Abraham,ask,"Lord God,how shall I know that I will inherit it?"(Genesis 15:

God did not reprimand Abraham for failing to take him at His Word.That is how gracious God is to His people.He even came down to Abraham's level of faith and did something to assure Abraham that He would always keep His promises-He made a covenant with Abraham.(Genesis 15:9-17)

God did not do it for His own benefit.God is a God of his word.He does not break His Word.But He bound Himself to a covenant because He knew that Abraham needed to know in his heart that God would do whatever He had promised him.

Man finds it hard to just believe words.For example,when you buy a house,a contract is drawn up and signed by both parties,and lawyers are involved.You need a contract because you cannot trust the other person's words and he cannot trust yours either.

Likewise,we find it hard to take God at His word.So God made a covenant with us,not because He cannot be trusted,but because He knows that we find it hard to just believe what He says.God knows that man will wonder,"What if God wakes upon the wrong side of His bed tomorrow and decides to fry me instead of bless me?"

But because God has made a new covenant with us,which is established by the blood of His Son,we can,like Abraham,not waver through unbelief regarding the promises of God,but be strengthened in our faith,being fully persuaded that God will do as He has promised.(Romans 4:20-21)We have the assurance that God will not wakeup one day and say,"Forget the new covenant.I want to remember your sins now and curse you instead of bless you!"

My friend,the new covenant blessings for you are guaranteed because God has bound Himself to the covenant.And He is a covenant-keeping God who is willing and more than able to do everything He had promises you!

Because God has made a new covenant with us,established by the blood of His Son,we can be fully persuaded that He will do as He has promised.

Topic: Response To Discouragement [Thursday July 30, 2015]

Read: 1 Samuel 30:3-8 (KJV)

3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

5 And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.

8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

MESSAGE:

David's response to the distress he was confronted with, after his family and those of his men were taken captive, should serve as an example of what our response should be in the face of discouragement. The Bible in 1 Samuel 30:8 says:

"And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all."

Whenever you experience a loss, you need to go back to God to find out if it is possible to recover what was lost, and how such recovery would be achieved. Do not take it for granted that every loss must be recovered. Sometimes, when the Lord calls home a loved one who is very ill and going through excruciating pain, there might be no need for Him to return such a fellow back to life, except of course if He wants to heal such a fellow. Also, if a blessing is already becoming a curse or something else, it may be preferable for such a blessing to go for the greater good. Have you taken time to ask God about His will concerning your losses? Have you also asked how such losses can be recovered?

We can see from today's Bible reading that people respond to discouragement in different ways. Some people do not mind going to any extreme when they are discouraged. At the point of discouragement, David's men suddenly blamed the same leader who had been protecting them. They began to see their helper as the source of their loss. They began to speak against him and even planned to stone him to death! This shows the destructive power of discouragement. How do you handle situations when you are discouraged? Do you turn your helpers into enemies? There are some believers including ministers, who at the height of discouragement deliberately step out of righteousness and return temporarily to the sinful lifestyle they abandoned several years ago. This type of response is wrong. When faced with discouragement, encourage yourself in the Lord. Study God's word to receive a word of encouragement and direction. Pray to God, praise and thank Him for all past blessings and worship Him. Doing these may be difficult, but ask for grace to do so. Seek counselling from godly people. Also, ask yourself: what does Satan want me to do in this situation? Ensure you don't act according to his expectation.

Key Point: Discouragement is an arrow that must be returned to its source with haste.
