I want to use this medium to thank the owner of this forum and the moderators for their timely intervention in updating that rule two to include Tribe. I'm very glad about this...To be sincere, I was becoming tired of Nairaland because of this rubbish Igbo/yoruba dichotomy. It was becoming just too much.
Everyone should now take note, Violate this rule and get a lengthy ban, Nigeria belongs to all of us, This last few weeks, I was already regretting being a Nigerian, I thought of denouncing my tribe just like I did with religion; Hopefully, Everything will be okay now.
Once more, thanks to Seun and his law makers.

Op when you opened this thread, I thought your had a different view/opinion or you wanted to suggest another idea or even add something productive.
But I was disappointed because you didn't say anything new.
You just repeated the new rule, nothing more.

This thread is totally unnecessary.....

I so much agree with this. Tribalism does not benefit anybody. There is never going to be a time when Igbos will say "we were wrong and the Yorubas were right" just as the Yorubas will never admit to being wrong.
Pls lets all get along. We are not the only tribes in Nigeria. Hiding behind our computers and making thoughtless comments has more repercussions than we know. It affects our everyday life and relationship with others.
So pls its enough. Lets stop the tribal attacks

Lol...its only newbies that worry about nairaland tribalism war.

A lot of us have grown thick skin to it: no amount of moderation, nairaland law reviews and reforms stops it. It will only decline for a while and start up again.
A lot of concerned nairalanders started truce threads and so on; no tangible result ever comes out. It did die down prior to elections though; i guess the election tensions got it up again. Soon, it will reduce only to resurface again when something happens.

Its a lost battle; honestly.

People are already being banned for tribalism since the creation of Nairaland, the rule makes no difference.

I'm on your side but I don't think people takes that serious, Nigerians just like to make fun of them self after all this argument the Igbo man go enter eatry to eat amala while the Yoruba man will go for shopping in the nearest igbo man's shop.

My only concern is for children who does not have mature mind and the consequence of what we are doing on their emotion.

Yeah, You're right, It's definitely going to resurface, But I just like the fact that this rule has been modified and a ban attached to it. I was very disturbed, Imagine someone suggesting of ways to eliminate a particular ethnic group,It made me rremember the judenfragen (The Jewish question) which was asked by the Nazis in the early 1940s, And a solution was proffered by Heinrich Himmler, That solution was the HOLOCAUST and I'm sure you know what happened, This is how it starts...So anything that is done to curb this menace is okay by me.

My dear, the rules have always been there; did it prevent people from bullying, fighting, cursing, insulting everyother person? There are only about 3 mods with maybe 3 supermods to oversea the comments of almost 1 million users most of which are active in politics section: how easy do you think that would be?
Even the spambot is tired.

Its a lost war abeg.

Is Nairaland not meant to be an anonymous forum of discussion? If it is, then how do we define other people's tribes when we cannot tell if for sure they're from such tribes.

What if I create a thread to mock a tribe albeit not directed to a Nairaland member?

I think such rule is outrightly anti-anonymous and even if tolerable, is incomplete.
Re: Nairaland Rule 2 Update: My View. by Alfamann: 1:01pm On Apr 13, 2015
problem with these rules is that nigerian society makes a mockery of it. It is not nairalanders that started tribalism. Nairaland is only a reflection. See reactions in the country when Fashola deported Igbos or even most recently when Oba of Lagos threatened Igbos. Blaming Nairalanders for the tribalism of politicians is just an easy cop out of unpaid mods flexing their tiny muscles. It won't stop anything. Tribal hatred is in Nigeria to stay.

Your question is akin to asking, "Did the 1994 Rwandan genocide really happen?"... Bros, I don't have time to start telling you about it, But please if you have the means, you can travel to Poland and some other parts of Europe and see for your self, Some of the concentration camps and death camps like Auschwich, treblinka and Sobibor are still there for all to see, My brother, you'll shed tears if you set your eyes.

I don't think you will be banned if you start mocking the Kikuyu people of Kenya.

Oh that? Those are real. I have even met some of the survivors of those camps. I thought you meant something else like they were systematically targeted and programmes put in place for their extinction as many people are claiming without proof.

It may have been there, But it's now more defined, And believe you me, It will not completely stop the tribal fracas but it will go a long way in reducing it, so my good sir, It's not a "Lost war abeg".
