Akume deserves it more than Saraki. To those saying Benue state got it before, merit shouldn't be sacrificed on the altar of anything. Especially something as trivial as the former also belonging to the same state.

Wresting Benue away from the PDP was no mean feat. And Akume and Gemade were at the heart of it. Inshort, Gemade's moving over, when he lost his return ticket to Suswam, was Akume's doing. And at the point, I knew it would be almost impossible for us to retain Benue state. Am not bitter though. Truth be told, Suswam was a mess. And the man who was to take over from him...well, he seemed more of a tout than a governor.

Akume has been fighting the PDP for a very long time and finally delivered his state. He deserves it more than any other person. Except we overlook merit and tribal sentiment comes into play, then Saraki it would be.
