You know nothing about these states! You said Enugu and Ebonyi weren't owing, that was trashed here with facts, now you run around claiming Enugu and Ebonyi are more viable than Oyo and Osun yet you still do it without facts but you claim APC uses propaganda. My stand on this is simple, if you can't denounce the incompetent governments of the SE then you have no right to give your political and unsolicited advice to others. I posted on this thread that as at 2007 only one SE state made the list of top 10 economically buoyant Nigerian states, I expected a rebuttal and a 2015 report showing the position of the 5 SE states, none provided yet you speak of viability and your supposed claims of ingenuity of the administrators of these states. I don't know if Martin Elechi and Theodore Orji pass as ingenious to you, if they do then I'm sorry to say you have a bigger problem than the governments you intended demystifying with this thread.
You need to deal with that and save your ponderous attempts at wit for some other day.

The little boy whynotthetruth is a bigot and hypocrite. Simple. He keep shifting the goal post and posting meaningless trash without evidence or stats to prove his lies. From Ebonyi and co are not owing, to they are viable and now to infrastructure comparison when those region are just like 1763BC. Same Ebonyi where cholera is killing people daily cos of no good water but he wont advice them cos Yoruba are his problem. Rubbish.

What more can I say?
I could feel the passion with which you wrote this.

Forget the hypocrisy of some folks and their tribal bigotry.

The truth is gradually gaining momentum among the sane on here.

Over these few weeks, I have seen myself go from a militant criticizer of this govt, to one who is filled with sheer pity, for myself, for Nigerians, more especially for Oga BuBu and the office of the presidency.

I feel like we've been roped into a thick, well woven and written plot.

I even lost my zest to comment on anything anti-apc or buhari.
For now, watching, observing and distributing likes does it for me, except if course, I am inspired.

Another SW ppl are blind crap!!

You would have made perfect sense if you were referring to Nigerians as a whole and you would have made some sense more than now if you were referring to SS/SE.

No Region is dumber than these two regions in Nigeria. No region is more ethnically biased than SE in Nigeria and no region has been cheated than SS in Nigeria! SE has no struggle with any region. Their problem in the east is simple; one way traffic minds!! Follow follow and ethnic politics!! Take that out of SE and see them shoot high! Tell SS to prosecute their leaders!! Kill them all! There are two federal ministries handling ND alone plus 13% derivation yet they live in poverty lmao!! And their leaders make sure they point to Abuja and Notyherners as their problem!!

Did you know that oil bunkering also reduce the revenue and as that, your 13% worth reduced too? Did you know Ateke, Asari, Tompolo, Odili and many of your Chiefs are into oil bunkering? Did they use their I'll gotten wealth to help you?

ND shove your eyes!!! You are the most cheated region in Nigeria!!

Now op, gan solve the problems in the east and SS first. Blind foooools pretending to be intellectuals. The northern youths are feared by their leaders. They know they can be lynched anytime they provoke them.

The SW is just blinded by "sophistication" ! Sophistication is not practical among animals.. that hates you from east to North to south.. Especially the east!! The fucking hatred Igbos have displayed for Yorubas in Nigeria is appalling considering after SE, the next place in the world to find Igbos in millions is Yoruba land. You want to marry their women, trouble! You don't vote for their preferred candidate, trouble!! As much as Igbos on this forum like to preach the "Igbos believe in individual freedom blah blah" the last election exposed their falsehood!
Yorubas just need to wake up! There were Yotubas in PDP too and PDP ruined Nigeria till now!
Leadership is not party orientation but no quality leadership can come from PDP they party doesn't envourage that. APC on the other hand instead of being very strict, left the floor open knowing fully well the ppl are not fully enlightened enough to pick a good leader, allowed for the mixture of bad quality and good quality. Atiku have no business in APC if Buhari is serious about power! Atiku who owns a generator manufacturing company..

It is unfortunate that the only thing you saw here is tribal bashing...Anyway, let me oblige you the facts about voting pattern in Nigeria about SW since independence...I also challenge you to present that of SE/SS to prove me wrong...

The South-West zone has 14,296,163 registered voters, which represents 19.44% of the total number of voters nationwide. In terms of national electoral strength, the
zone is number 2. Taking into account the electoral behaviour of the South-West since independence, the zone has proven itself, without exception, of incapable of
voting anyone other than its own. In the 1st Republic, it voted mainly Action Group in favour of Chief Obafemi Awolowo with about 69% voters’ turnout. In the 2nd Republic, it voted 78.75% of its total votes cast for UPN in favour of Chief Awolowo, with 70% voters’ turnout. In the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the pattern was repeated more or less the same, except that the total percentage of SDP’s votes in favour of Chief MKO
Abiola rose up to 84.5% in the zone. In the 1999 presidential election, mainly because the only two candidates for the presidency were both from the South-West, the zone’s voters’ turnout was abysmally low (48.09%) with about 68% of the votes cast to APP in
favour of Chief Olu Falaye. 2003 also recorded poor voters’ turnout with 71% of votes cast for Obasanjo’s PDP. In 2011, with no Southwestern candidate fielded by any of the major parties, the South-West voted PDP when a functional alliance with the CPC failed to field in Sen. Tinubu or his nominee. Besides, with the vicious experience of AD in 2003 when the PDP Federal Government uprooted its governments in five states of the zone, the South-West cannot now afford to risk having an opposition PDP government at the federal level again; certainly not after the hard pains and toils of forming the APC. It is therefore existential for the South-West to vote APC at the presidential election.

When a state like Osun can no longer fulfil its obligations it can be concluded that its technically bankrupt. Although Osun is not the only culpable state in this case, there are 18 of them and if not for oil derivation for some of the Niger Delta state, the story would have been the same. For those clamouring for new states, my advise is perish such dreams and work on an economic stability of the current ones.

Secenerio analysis and forecasts are needed by states to build virile economy for example, now that United States is the largest producer of oil in the world and wont be needing Nigerian oil and if the British should shun Nigeria oil and Iran beging to produce and the price of oil drop to like $25-$30 a barrel, how will states fare? These are possibilties that should open the eyes of the leadrship. We must admit that Jonathan and his crew were TOTAL failure and am particularly dismayed that a professionally trained economist in Okonjo Iweala failed to conduct scenario testing by just looking at inernational politics and the rise of fracking in United States after oil price was between $80-$110 a barrel. That was a colossal failure on her part as the coordinating minister of the economy.

However, state governors are greater failures for not seeking to look for how to use their oil allocations to buiild avenues for wealth generation for their states, they screwed the whole country, its a shame.

Ogbeni Aregbesola should begin to have a rethink on his socialism leaning and pay his workers, he must pay them and likewise all the governors of these 18 states. HAVE THEY NOT RECEIVED THEIR OWN SALARIES? what about security votes and all those infllated contacts? they should just pay workers.

Guys, you can all call Tinubu anything but we have to give it to him and Fashola for looking into the future and seeking ways to move Lagos forward without trickles from oil. As of today, without oil in Nigeria only Lagos can function well and will do much better if mismanagement is tackled. There is no regional exception to this but we must admit that a lot of these politicians committed too much resources to the last election and who is suffering for it now? Also, the civil service reform of Bisi Akande was jettison by Oyinlola PDP in order to win sympathy and Aregbe could not revert because that will be politically suicidal, Nigeria need a honest approach to governance.

You can imagine that Fayose's stomach infrastructure will have to be suspended because Ekiti is also in the limbo and politicians commit over 60% of states incomes to politiking and its like that all over. Akwa Ibom cannot feel it because of steady oil derivation incomes but take away the oil and the state will be among the poorest in southern Nigeria.
For those shouting BIAFRA and NIGER DELTA REPUBLIC or Lower Niger have you done your scenario testing with oil at $10 or at $5 and see if you can survive?

To me, Nigeria must focus on building the domestic market, practice Regional federalism and begin to focus on delivering economic policies of emancipation.

Good morning Sir! The problem is that majority of these people are untravelled and such are very ignorant of what happens outside their zone.

The fact that we're bold enough to call out our leaders for incompetence and for not meeting up to expected levels of service delivery does not imply that the state is in ruins. It simply means that we demand more from these leaders instead of shielding them because of unneccesary ethnic rivalry. We're never deceived or hoodwinked by propaganda. T.A Orji tried it and failed.

The message these South-Westerners have failed to get is that they should start holding their leaders accountable. They should demand more from them!

I for sure share your sentiments... and I have been privileged to visit almost all SW states except Osun and knows firsthand what's there...

It is based on my experience that I came up with this piece because I want them to hold their local leaders accountable...

Most of them believe Nigeria began in Shagamu and ended in Badagry...They rarely travel outside their locals...I did most of my travels to their respective states just for knowledge sake, sightseeing and know what life is like outside my immediate environment... though I almost met a waterloo in one such travels....

mandarin : thanks so much for not seeing this article through an ethnic lens and constructively marshalling out your points though I may want to differ with some of them...Wish my girlfriend@ SarahBabyxx and my guy@AhmedMustapha alongside other ethnic jingoists were as broad minded too it would have made an interesting discuss...

In all suffice it to say that, be sure there can never be a time oil(energy) would seize to be a major factor in the world; though till USA influence or grip on world politics is whittled down, they will keep playing politics with price of oil using UAE as front remembering their I think 1894 or thereabout treaty...In this case, though Jonathan had issues with them with his gay law and establishing more business relationship with China as against them hence they wanted him out but there primary target in this oil price mess is Russia...they need to clip Putin...

I'm not an 'ethnic jingoist''....I'm not even from the SW but I might as well be called a SWner since I spent most of my life in this region

No one was disputing the fact that SW states are in debt but the fact that you compared them with SOME states in the SE in a way that suits your purpose....fact is DEBT is DEBT....you can't try to sugarcoat it by making one region look less just to suit you purpose

The laughable part of your article was how you compared Ebonyi with osun....a state that we don't even know where its allocation goes to and Is still borrowing.....you even went as far making Enugu look like its economically strong when in fact it is one of most indebted states

As for your 'advice' for the SW....they know what is going...you think we don't know how akala ran Oyo?? I lived in ibadan for a while and I knw Akala is the worst thing that ever happened to OYO......I'd leave you to compare and contrast Akala and Ajimobi.....I don't even want to talk about Gbenga Daniel......go to Ogun they you'd know wassup....atleast if they 'borrowed' we know it was used for something....what did Elechi use the money for? Are you people holding him accountable? Don't even get me stated on Aba (Abia)

The fact is your house is burning and you want to put out the fire in another man's house....we're not all stupid we can read between the lines

Sorry for my late reply...

Yes, your last part confirms your prejudice and mindset which is a prerequisite for an ethnic jingoist; who only sees whatever opinion through such lens...Till you read this article with an open mind, you will keep saying same thing though in different ways...

Fine...you have been in SW for long just like I do know them and not from a distance too...

Have you been to SE especially Ebonyi state Have you been to Abia state?...Lagos is neck deep in debts but it is economically more viable than Anambra that owes nothing to anybody...Just like my write up observed, debts are NOT if they are used for viable projects...

Ebonyi has similar economic fortunes as Osun both in agricultural terms, natural resource, and federal allocation; hence should be in almost same condition as Osun but they are not...They are by far better than Osun state so far...

Enugu borrowed for its projects and I think they have some good results to show for it; hence even Fr Mbaka that runs as opposition to bad governance in the SE has not much complaint so far(cf with his stance on previous governments both in and out of Enugu state)...Can same be said of the Oyo?...

I know some stuffs about ALL these states both on paper and in reality....where area are u from?
