Unpaid Salaries; Serving Osun Judge Asks For Aregbesola's Impeachment by talktimi(m): 10:42pm On Jun 23, 2015
By Charles Kumolu

AN Osun State judge, Justice Oloyede Folahanmi has called on the state House of Assembly to investigate the alleged mismanagement of the state’s financial resources by the governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy in accordance with Sections 128 and 129 of the 1999 constitution, saying there is no moral justification for their continued stay in office.

Folahanmi, in a 30-page petition urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Amnesty International, Transparency International among others, to investigate any other person found to be responsible for what he described as ‘’ deliberate mismanagement of the economy of Osun State.’’

The petitioner further accused Aregbesola of acting in defiance of some sections of the constitution which bordered on the welfare of Osun indigenes.

The petition reads in part: ‘’I am propelled by the desire to see the pains of my fellow human beings ameliorated and to possibly, help take away the reproach of our state as “A bankrupt” and “A failed state” and the desire to join hands with other like minds to help salvage the sinking ship of Osun State.

‘’I declare that in addition to the media-hype of Osun’s parlous financial condition, I have firsthand experience which constitutes evidence of the unfortunate situation in which Osun currently finds herself.

‘’Even Mr. Governor has admitted publicly, the fact that Osun is in financial quagmire and that he is clueless on how to pull her out of the doldrums. Mr. Governor’s argument that salaries can only be paid from statutory allocations is also faulty, we demand that he substantiate his claim by giving the section of the law that so provides. In any event, all funds, all allocations and all expenditures are expected to be backed by legislation, and are statutory, otherwise, they are illegal.

‘’Consequently, the admitted inability of Mr. Governor and his deputy to pay pensions, salaries and allowances for periods ranging from eight to 11 months now, as a consequence of their own decision to accumulate debts beyond the capacity of the state’s internally generated revenue, whilst the very ‘ actors’ Mr. Governor and his deputy continue to enjoy their security allowances in hundreds of millions, is a violation of their oaths of office.

‘’Their action in this respect is as illegal as it is immoral and unconscionable. It is an evidence of their inability to discharge the functions of their office. There is therefore no legal or moral basis for their continued stay in office.

‘’Neglecting the welfare of members of the community under the guise of wanting to provide infrastructure, runs contrary to the teachings of Christ, the son of God, Jesus of Nazareth. The provision of infrastructures at the expense of human lives and the dignity of man is therefore repugnant to natural justice, equity, and good conscience and must be denounced as abominable. It contradicts Principle 1 of the Stockholm Conference.

‘’Instead of pursuing the noble ideals enshrined in our constitution, the ideals of social order, and “ensure a just world economic order” and “universal brotherhood” Mr. Governor and his deputy are assiduously working against it, as exemplified by the cruel, and harsh debasement of pensioners and civil servants by deliberately and maliciously withholding their salaries for months, in an attempt to brow beat, subjugate to take away their God given free will, and reduce them to mindless robots, with herd mentality, devoid of the ability to take any decision for themselves and unable to assert or actualize themselves!

‘’To this end and for this reason I am sure other well -meaning and concerned members of the Osun community are hereby calling on honourable members of the state House of Assembly to pick up the gauntlet and redeem themselves by giving effect to the provisions of Sections 128 and 129 of the Constitution, empowering them to investigate and bring to justice, all those who have corruptly enriched themselves at the expense of Osun and her people.’’

If the Osun people are wise, they'll support the noble gestures of this learned judge. Aregbesola is constituting himself a nuisance at the helm of affairs there cool

It's high time the goatee bearded , almajiri looking clown with pretensions to populist ideals and Godly disposition is held accountable for the mismanagement of the funds that had accrued to the state in the last 8yrs. He is obviously clueless as to the way forward but the privileges and paraphernalia of the exalted office is too alluring for him to bow out honourably . If you are employed to do a job beyond your ken, it amounts to Total lack of honor and a fraudulent disposition to keep your earning wages as a burden to your employers. Aregbe should be shown the way out dishonorably

Are they bold enough to do that cos once upon a time osun people were dancing to wasiu ayinde fuji music and shouting ogbeni.

I remember Are-gbese taunting Gej with his 'ila ika lama lae o' song. And now it seems he's about to taste same from his people grin

the assembly members should have been the one to suggest this motion in the first place if not that they're obviously a rubber stamp assembly

Buhari Is Not Even Boy's Scout. No wonder He Says We Should Not Call Him "General". Boy's Scout motto is "Be Prepared". Young boys are taught that, for instance, if you win an election 3 months ago, you should be prepared to form a government immediately. That is Boy's Scout oh!!! Even in Girl's Guide, they teach them strategy on preparing their homes immediately they are married and not wait for mother-in-law to shout first. (Okay, I made this one up) What I did not make up is that in The UK, once you win the elections, the prime minister invites the leader of the party to IMMEDIATELY FORM A GOVERNMENT. Buhari obviously could not learn this as he spent more time at the gate of the prime minister than inside. Or how do you explain how a man will will an election 3 months ago, be sworn in over 25 days ago (about a month) and he has FAILED TO FORM A GOVERNMENT? Generals in the mold of Paton boast about the time they use in achieving anything. The underlining word of true military men that attended four years military training (not 6 months that Buhari attended and still became "general"wink is EXPEDITIOUSLY. Thus if Buhari was a Boy's Scout, he would have been prepared with his ministerial list, SFG name, name of Chief of Staff etc. he would have even known his ambassadors. If he was Girls Guide, he would have prepared to move straight into Aso Rock and start work. If he entered the military with WAEC and also not jumped four years of General training, instead jumping to attend officers school when he was not qualified to, by now he would have learnt of great military feats like Raid At Entebbe, Battle of Longewala, Battle of Gate Pa etc and realize TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE Anyway, he knows this so he said we should not address him as GENERAL as he is a disgrace to the name with his poor decision-making and no decision making. So we will just keep with the Dullard of Daura name and wait another week for the simple task of forming a government.... Not even working ohh... Simple forming of a government. General that cannot pick his team. RUBBISH!

Some months back, I posted some excerpts from a young Osun man stating the different natural resources in the state and their potentials for revenue. The young man is clearly miles ahead of the governor in his plans for Osun state but they just flung him aside so they could continue rapíng the state with grandiose white elephant projects

Any governor that does not have another way of generating resources to state coffers aside allocation from FG dpoes not have business with governance.

I felt like punching my TV when I saw him on tele with other governors beging Buhari for a bail out. And that brings me to the opportunist activists. Where are the likes of Falana, Soyinka, Odumakin, Ogundamisi, Oby , NLC, Nupeng n Pengason. In sane clime, this man wud av honourably resigned. U can't be presidng over a failed state , somebody else- deputy, speaker or wateva just fresh hand shud step in and clean up this mess.
