I've got dis really depressed friend of mine who needs help.
He's 19 years old, he finished his secondary school education at the age of 15 and since then he has been trying to get an admission into the University. What makes his case curious is that he is not a dull person. He started writing jamb while he was in ss2, he scored 200, applied for uniben post utme scored 49 and he wasn't given admission.
In ss3 he wrote again but dis time the results were not released because of exam malpractice in his exam centre,this happened in the year 2012.
In 2013 he applied for jamb choosing the Nigeria Defense Academy and scored 202. He subsequently went for the entrance exams and he was invited for screening. In July 2013 he went for d screening and passed all d screening tests but when the admission list was released he was placed on the reserve list and was told to wait for an invitation from the academy before he could resume training. He waited and waited but there was no invitation. So he applied for jamb again in 2014 and still choosed the Nigeria Defense Academy, he scored 206, went for the NDA entrance exams and was invited. Unfortunately for him, hw fell very ill(pneumonia), so he couldn't go for the screening. While he was recovering he applied for putme of the federal University Otuoke to study physics and electronics and gained admission. He's father is a dental technogist and around that time, all medical practitioners were on strike, so he couldn't pay the school fees because he wasn't working and the school fees was fairly high for a government owned University (about 80k). Because of that he had to forfeit his admission.
In January this year he applied for the University of calabar pre degree program with a friend. In March when the pre-degree admission list were released his friend's name was on the list but his name was not.
I then persuaded him to apply for pti effurun entrance exams. He applied and wrote the exams now the results are out and he scored 72. According to what I've heard his chances of getting an admission into the school is very low. He is now very frustrated and looks miserable, I don't even know what to say to make him feel better. Pls do not insult the poor fellow.

He was having difficulties getting admission and he was lucky enough to be offered admission by FUOTUOKE and because he couldn't pay 80k school fees, he had to forfeit admission.

His dad doesn't have friends he can borrow money from?
At least pay the acceptance fee and the first school fees and other preliminary fees. The other fees for the other years he can find a way of dealing with them.

The guy isn't really serious about going to school.

If he wanted to go to school, he would have done everything possible to hold onto the admission he was already offered.

I know that feeling... the most important thing is for him never to give up.

It is not by how early one gained admission, but by graduating with a good grade and securing a job.

They were some persons who graduated before I did in 2008 but I was surprised at how some of them are still behind me in some spheres today.

One of my courageous friend ****** was once in his shoes, he refused to give up and today he's gainfully employed with a better pay than most of us who graduated even before him.

You see! Life is like a flow chart, so many ups and downs.

I was at home for 5 years and a lot of my friends had almost graduated from the university.

I was chided by people but I never gave up. I was not too worried anyway but time was actually going.

Part of what helped me was having a friend like you who was a female. She kept encouraging me and speaking sense into me.

I gained admission at 21 and graduated top of my class.

By the time I graduated, some of those so called friends were into "yahoo" because of no jobs, some into music, some were doing business while some are just there.

Today, I am not where I want to be but I am married and employed by the grace of God while most of them are not married or with great jobs. Nothing spectacular about them gaining admission before me or graduating before me.

There are fellow students of mine right about the time I gained admission, as young as they are, who are magistrates, captains and CEOs.
There are also lots of my juniors who God has blessed far far more than me. I am grateful and HE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL TOO.

While school is good, he doesn't actually need to go to become great. He should stay focused, believe in himself strongly, diversify into profitable ventures and never ever ignore the importance of his creator into making his life better. If he does this, God will come through for him.

He shouldn't give up his 19 for Christ sakes, he's still young.I have a friend who spent 8yrs at home before gaining admission into the university.

I knw of some1 dt spent 7yrs before gaining admission..... finished went for service n still yet to get a job. I looked @ his case n wonder if there's something wrong with his destiny. he hasn't given up so I don't see y a 19yrs old should?

I totally agree with u, it doesn't look ordinary, he should draw closer to God, 72 is an A if u ask Me, but its a low A , but A na A , let him pray harder, there's nothing hard for God to do ..... I wish him peace

See as one dey discard d issue of prayer. OP tell ur friend to turn to God. And who said d dad/boi wasn't about the admission cos of inability to pay fees?! May u never be in that shoe before u understand. Some comments are just ridiculous. Simply cos u were privileged doesn't mean everyone is.

OP tell him to turn to God, nothing impossible with Him. Not the end of the world, patience is a virtue though not easy but he will pull through
