Fetish dunce allow those who don't want to be with you to go...stop ranting trash. ..it is not by force to together. ..let biafra be...the prefer secession. ...stop ranting. ..or are you afraid of something?
Letting Biafra or any region go is not up to you or me. IT IS UP TO NIGERIA.

AND AS IT STANDS, IT IS TREASON TO DECLARE IT.
So what would you suggest ?

you're really one in a kind, if Nigeria has a lot of you at the height of power, this country will progress, but you should also know something, this biafra and zoo issue, I smell foul play sometimes, my mind use to tell me that there are some people hiding under there keyboard to perpetrate this things, God knows them, I don't. they are not really who you think they are.
God bless Nigeria
I have long suspected it. Some people deliberately fan the embers of tribal fires for political expediency.

Since the advent of democracy -even before- the call for secession is often use to draw attention to particular region/tribe. I have been to the east, south - south and west and the ordinary man/woman on the street isn't that secession - minded.

Nairaland paints a very distorting image of reality with this Biafra and zoo chanting.

Yes, I agree with you......it is more noise than reality......but my point is if the majority of ibos want Biafra......let us allow them to have it....the SW is too congested and it is getting worse... angry angry.... smiley....initially when it started........we were being accommodating thinking we are being our brothers keepers ......but the spat of serious kidnapping in those areas a few years back led to a massive influx of ibos into our lands..... angry.......and even after the kidnapping was controlled a little by holding their community leaders responsible........the mass migration has continued... angry......you need to be in traffic in any city in the southwest and you will not believe the number of them sweating and running after your cars to sell one product or the other even making the traffic jam and accidents worse.....with attendant costs on productivity lost.....and because of the failure of their system....and much frustration....many of them get involved in all kinds of crime...armed robbery.....fake drugs....etc....without conscience ...many consider money in any form.....Business.....you need to go out into clubs/hotels and see the sheer number of ibo prostitutes that litter our cities......meanwhile their leaders do nothing to address their issues and we are forced to accommodate and provide for them in our land even with so much hatred which is nothing to do with us..... angry.....I swear.....I cannot wait for Biafra.... angry......the problem is that once they get Biafra....the ibos are self hating anyway and will start killing themselves but then it will no longer be our problem as long as they no longer wander into our lands.....shikena.... cheesy
Lol my dear, As long as Lagos is the economic capital and social hub of Nigeria, it will always be overcrowded - even if Biafrans go.

That's why there should be a restructuring of Nigeria. Lagos can be decongested by opening other ports of the country which have access to the Atlantic ocean.

But every capital - be it political or economica l- does have its price to pay. The residents of Makoko are of other west african citizens than Nigerians. And if you were to conduct a census on foreigners in Lagos, you'll be amazed at the findings.

Other parts of the country should be opened up. Who says Nigeria can't have our own New York, Los Angeles and Washington or Pretoria, joburg and Cape Town?

Your hate is so empty and cheap you're obviously choking in it. Do not use the word coward except in description of yourself. For hate is cheaper than optimism.

You are simply a diabolical coward...optimism with those who don't want you...optimism with those who want you ruined or is it optimism with those who want you dead...I hate diabolical hypocrites like you....simply learn to be on own your own....you are evil, very evil...you have a ritualistics aura, so full of deceit and evil, very incestuous...you smell like a betrayer you are ...

If any section of Nigeria feels marginalized, they have the full right for self determination. Such right should not be traded on the platform of emotions when real issues triggering them aren't attended to.

Confab would have help to relax all the agitations but I think some feels more important than other sections of the country and want to remain parasitically to the detriment of others.

lolz grin grin grin grin with you stop cracking me up with laughter here!!! You ooze of a dark humour. grin

I see you're of the southeast or Igbo and you use a yoruba moniker to do tribal trolling? Is that right?

I'm not yoruba, can't even speak the language beyond monosyllabic mumblings. But I like its people, they add to the rich heritage of this country. I have an in law in Brasil, sometimes I phone him to have his host know that they have Nigerians as indigenous people of Brazil and their culture is of Nigeria too. Isn't that something to be proud of?

In international politics, if harnessed, it is called soft power. And look at the Igbos, I can understand its sense of humour and language from Nollywood which has showcased Nigeria to the world and has caught the attention of CNN and Hollywood.

The Gambia has even made igbo an official language in that west african country. And when I think of all the human and material investment in lagos and other parts of the country by the Igbos, I see a people who love diversity and adventure.
All I see is a country with people who can dominate the world.

Igbos and yorubas as frenemies no more no less.
And all the hostilities are no more than chest beating and vain banter. Do not forget igbos have commissioners and legislators in lagos state.

Follow the silent beat that carrys the true pulse of Nigeria. Do not be a shaft blown by every wind.

True word bro!

Our people go to Benin republic and Togo to import cars because Lagos port is over crowded and resultantly costlier and takes more time time to process goods. If other ports are opened up with the dredging of river niger as an inland port, the economy of Nigeria will quadruple with employment souring.

There's an international cargo airport in Asaba and it's in the right direction.

It is disheartening to watch on social-media when Nigerians resort to tribal slurs and cruel jibes at one another at the slightest of chance. Ironically most of the jeering participants are often decent fellows offline who have in their close circles as friends people of other ethnic groups.

Nigeria is a mere geographical expression of the British experiment , so opined a leading political figure. Perhaps it was so during the 1914 amalgamation. A casual look at the sociopolitical and economic evolution of Nigeria ever since will lead any honest observer to draw a very contrasting conclusion.

For the Igbos do bound her neighbours in the south south in Abia and Imo and delta states and there has been a cultural and economical entwinement in this region. The Igbos also bound the north/Middlebelt in Enugu,Benue and Kogi states.

The yorubas share a little ancestral linkage in delta and Edo states in the south south and are in an eternal sociopolitical blending with the north in kwara and Kogi states.

All of Nigeria seems to meet in some critical geographical junction which suggests there's a bit of ALL OF US in ALL OF US. There is therefore no clear cut geographical or cultural demarcation for secession or breakup.

Summarily, Nairaland has morphed into Africa's biggest online meeting hub with a very sizable number of foreigners both from Africa and beyond. Disappointingly, this is where Nigeria's most ignorant tribal bigots have chosen to launch their scathing and diversionary tribal slurs..... in front of the watching world.

It should be clear that Nigeria is beyond breaking into tiny irrelevant geographical entities. The civil war failed; June 12 failed and has boko haram .

The destiny of Nigeria -- the very premise by which it became is bigger than any single tribe.

While we berate each other and call one another names, the rest of Africa watches with patience, waiting for us to solve our own riddle and lead the entire black race to its true dignity.

The former United Nation's Secretary General, Kofi Annan in Abuja ,January in front of a world press made a daring declaration : " The destiny of Africa is in the hands of Nigeria".

It is a sad commentary that foreigners have more faith and hope in Nigeria than Nigerians. When little minded, shortsighted tribal bigots ,with no sense beyond the relevance of their tribe, dance in a show of tribal shame, the effects resonate around Africa and the black diaspora. For every tribal cruelty spawned online on the ocean of our national existence, the waves of its

aftereffects is felt in the depths of Africa.

The world is aware of our shortcomings in corruption, government inefficiency but their faith is bigger than our dismays. Because there has been progress -not because of the bigots but in spite of them.

Nigeria remains the only black Country with a fair chance of being a super power, but it will take a united and strong Nigeria to achieve this.

The sooner we shed the last vestige of secession, the faster we shall begin to practice true coexistence with the option of disintegration so far off in the distance of genuine brotherhood.
That's my hero. wink

If you like, you can become oblivious to your ethnic identity in Nigeria. However you must understand that Nigeria is an epitome of tribal bias. As for empty statement accredited to one Kofi Annan, he is bound to say the same thing if he would visit Biafra tomorrow. When I read statements such as the one banked for Kofi Annan about Nigeria and destiny of Africa, I conclude that so-called elites from Africa constitute major problem of the continent. How could such a man deliver such a feel-happy and fallacious sermon to crowd of people whose country cannot manage a gutter?

One can still be a Nigerian and yet hold onto his tradition and ethnicity. It's a balanced approach that has worked in other countries that are more diversed than Nigeria .

You cannot fault Kofi on his statement if you take it into full perspective. Before and during the last presidential elections, Africa stood literally still in anticipation of the aftermath. The world held its breath as the promise of violence and unrest seem certain no matter the outcome.

And Kofi came to Nigeria and in a keynote address to Nigerian leaders, he made a comment that is often absent in the consciousness of Nigerians and our leaders: "We are more important and carry more influence than we care to admit or even see" Some of our leaders do know this but perhaps they shy from such enormous responsibility.

Kofi 's statement wasn't a "feel-good" cometary, it was to draw to our attention the effect our decisions have in all of Africa.

@op Mr Lezz,

The main planks of your argument for the continuation of this abominable zombie empire are that; a) Igbos are bound to people in the NC and the SS while the Yoruba have ancestral linkages with people in the NC and SS b) Some fantasies about a possibly glorious future.

Regarding the first point, while you remember that ethnic groups within nigeria are linked with their neighbours, you conveniently forget that 70% of Niger Republic is ethnically Hausa. The Fulani exist in almost all west African countries from Cameroon to Senegal. You can also get bye speaking Egun and Yoruba from Badagry right up to the borders of Togo with Ghana.

Regarding your fantasies of an "African Super Power", you should perish that thought. I don't think we have 50% of the resources available in Congo DRC. It is said that just one dam on one River in Congo has the potential to provide 40,000 MW of electricity but notwithstanding that the vast majority of people in that place have no access to electricity. Additionally, the country is sitting on a veritable treasure trove of strategic minerals. Yet most of the residents are desperately poor. It suffers from a somewhat more acute flavour of the same systemic virus we suffer in Nigeria.

As a much younger person, I was also infinitely proud of our potentials, happy to interact with the rich diversity of people from accross the country and revel in the rich diversity of our geography, cultures and languages. I also lamented about how our apparent lack of progress was due to our bad luck with leadership.

However as I got older (and possibly wiser), I started questioning my assumptions. if you continue selecting black beads from a closed bag of beads, after selecting 10 black beads in succession, you may be right to conclude that most of the beads in that bag are black. Like Warren Buffet said, when a great manager takes on a fundamentally bad business, the manager loses his reputation while the business keeps its bad reputation intact. That is the case with Nigeria. You can confidently predict the failure of every national government in Nigeria as currently constituted and you will be right 95% of the time.

Our country is fundamentally flawed at its very core. You can't have a successful organization without a single sense of self or single vision or culture. Every successful organization on earth has a dominant culture, a dominant vision. An organism with two (or more)heads isn't likely to be viable. What is the Nigerian dream? What is the single Nigerian culture? What is the dominant set of values that we share? We aren't talking about random interactions here. We have Igbo, Yoruba, Northen Muslim, SS, Ijaw or Middle-belt versions of culture, vision and values. There are no Nigerian equivalent of these and that it's why most discussions on these boards are little more than arguments between the deaf.

To make matters even worse, the actual mental image Nigerians carry of the country differs from the artificial 36 states (plus Abuja) we have in our fake constitution. As far as most people are concerned we have 200 nations here and each nation has defined geographical boundaries. That is why we have indigenes, settlers, hosts and a number of interesting terms. We have Igboland, Yorubaland, Ijawland, Hausaland, Tivland and so on. While these may not exist in your constitution, they are more real than even your Nigeria itself.

1) The main "plank" of my argument for a better and one Nigeria isn't based on the geographical fixation of SE to SS and SW to MB. That's putting it in an overly simplistic form.

2) Resources alone do not make for super power

3) It is unfortunate you stopped believing in Nigeria as
you got older and wiser

4) Nigeria has a dominant culture easily discernible
at home and abroad. It may not be singular as you
you wish but it is score for a nation this diversed .

5) I am aware of the problems that bedevil Nigeria and they aren't insurmountable. I think tribalism cripples Nigeria more than any government ineptitude.

With everything Nigeria has undergone in political turmoil, tribal unrest and political uncertainty, why has there been no concrete effort to disintegrate and disolve the union?

The union between Scotland and the UK or Britain isn't a federation, it is union of quasi independent countries who have their own governments at some level.

A federation is an often more rigid and difficult alliance with a lot of sovereignty ceded to the central government. E.g The US and Nigeria.

I am an advocate of true federalism ,but then again the proliferation of the states have made them too small and non - viable.

But I want to see less power and money ceded to Abuja and with all legislative arm becoming part time. That will kill off the zeal of every Tom wanting to be a politician and becoming popular overnight.

If we have more economic activity at the state level and less power to Abuja, political activities will be shifted to the states and will reduce tribal scheming at the center.

The problem with Nigeria is that we don't really run a federation. Everything is tied to Abuja. How can the roads be fixed when Abuja has to give the nod?

How can the governors not play a blame game when they wait for monthly allocation from the federal government? I could go on. But for a start, state should be given more power and responsibilities with the local government becoming independent.

@op Mr Lezz,

You nailed it. Kudos.

The British union is legitimate as it was done by the people of the countries involved.

Nigeria on the other hand is a colonial abomination, cobbled together by colonists with the sole purpose of exploitation of the indigenous people of the area.

The Nigerian union was not done by Nigerians but by aliens, and hence the indigenous people of Biafra owe no allegiance whatsoever to such illegal entity.

When and where did Ndiigbo cede our sovereignty to Nigeria? We were more or less forced into the union by the British, like every other group in the Union.

The US is a bad example to use in this case, as the original owners were conquered by Aliens who at no time willingly ceded their sovereignty to the US government, rather their lands were forcefully taken from them by Caucasian invaders, who in turn United together to form a nation, the land wasn't theirs( Caucasians) and so there can't be talks of sovereignty.

The problem of Nigeria is that Nigeria is not a nation, and,It's and artificial creation that was never going to survive the forces of nature.

Yes the British union is very legitimate but Scotland is still a country in its own right as is England.

Yes Nigeria was a creation by the British for its administrative convenience, but as soon as Nigeria had her independence and our leaders agreed to stay in the union, it became a Nigerian creation by acquiescence.

The moment former India had her independence from Britain, they split into India , Bangladesh and Pakistan. As did Tanzania and another african country whose name just wouldn't drop on my fingers at this moment.

These countries chose to sever the ties of colonial bonding. But Nigeria remained. Nigeria therefore is our own doing.

If it's our own doing like you said, then undoing it is also our own doing.

And that is a task that must be done.
