It's quite tough to select which hit it well more.

Timi dakolo - His backups voice were not tough enough but his lyrics and vocal is strong/soul touching.

Dare- Powerful backup singer with his eloquent voice but his lyrics is not as soul touching as timi's.

Ermmm. For me I will go for dare overall but in their single performance, Timi gat it.

I heard these two songs on beat fm one night almost a month ago and immediately downloaded them. They are both mind blowing songs devoid of the dirty lyrics u find in Nigerian music. They both tell the same story. young men embarking on a journey to the city in search of a better life. I will give it to darey.i put this song on repeat for weeks. I dont play a song so often so that i wont stop liking it that much. But pray for me was an exception. I played and played and played it all over again
Why?
The soweto choir and his infusion of his native yoruba actually blew me away.

NB: i am igbo and i didnt even understand the yoruba.

If these two songs aren't the best vocal performances in Nigeria right now, I don't know what other one is.  Both songs got executed with that perfectionist touch that'll make you wonder whether these two are actually from this planet.

This is battle for the Nigerian King of Soul. Going on the head-to-head level based on these two songs, these two are actually each other's competition even if it doesn't seem so at the moment.

These two songs have the same theme- going to the big life in the city. So it's in line that the Cobhams-produced WISH ME WELL erupts comparison with the two time Grammy award winning Soweto Choir-assisted "PRAY FOR ME"

Timi Dakolo had already showed us why he is Nigeria's King of Soul and Nigeria's finest tenor on his previous hits like "Iyawo Mi" and "Great Nation". So when legendary producer Cobhams Asuquo at his best, hooks up with Timi in fine Form, what we get is the beautiful hustler anthem "Wish me Well". This single off his forthcoming album, "Love and Consequences" is making the right waves and hit the right notes. I don't know if am delusional or this song actually deserves a Grammy award nomination.

However, the more recently released Darey's effort alongside Grammy winning South African group Soweto Choir titled "Pray for Me" is giving Timi Dakolo a run for his money and rightly so. The song centered around the same hustler theme is off his "Naked" album. The mid tempo Afro-Soul shows off Darey's vocal strengths while also reminding us that as far as R&B goes in Nigeria, only a very scarce few do it as good as he does. The song tells a story, a story of a hero at that in a manner that evoke emotions.

These songs are both perfectly done and deserve any credit they get.

Gun to the head, if we are to pick one of this two.... It will be... BOTH!!!

Yea same here. Darey's song is about his dead parents and sister. The message is strong.

The parents in dare's song arent dead. Rather his dad was warning him against going to the city. But as a heady youth he is,he defied them in search of a better life.
Listen to the second verse. After four years and 11 months in the city,he was either writing or calling them. He hasked,hope mama is doing ok

The two songs are awesome... its really hard to pick one.

Timi's song speaks to me more. Dare did a good job but I feel I can relate to timi's.

PLease you cannot compare the two songs- The vocal Timi gave out is pure epic. For super professionals. Dare is quite good. To the purists Timi wins head and tail!!

Timi's wish me well has that emotional tone that justs takes you to the next level.......blends you with the song and before you know it you are singing yourself especially the part....'Life in the cityeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!' 'am gonna work. Hardddddddd!!!!!!!!!! In the citeeeyyyy!!!!!' now we are in thecity already, so more like we gonna take our lives to the next level.

Onyinye is an old song na, I think I was still or freshly out of secondary school then(can't really remember) I know the song and Obi very well, loved it then too but I don't think it can be compared with these ones.

Pray for me has this very deep "thing" with it. Soweto gospel choir are worth their grammy, their yoruba was not only perfect but also goosebumpy too, I initially didn't believe it at first. The song also chronicles my life currently as I am leaving home soon. The beat, the fusion of the yoruba. Gbadura funmi, k'oribamise. Lovely song,powerful.

Damn I give it to Darey....lyrically + his backup singers really toned it up but Timi won Vocally. so I'll rate them like this: #Darey - 84% & #Timi - 80%
