indians practise thier religion fully unlike some of us dat mix jazz with xtianity/islam grin.i went to college wit indians nd pakis na. Was deported cos i stole a nike shoe which cost £47 at Jjb. Na £5 shoe wey dem sell for back of city centre i fit afford then grin.
lol. I'm glf u didn't mistake that as offensive.

BTW, dos who mix dr jazz wit religions are like ignorant of which is d true way and are trying to be on d safe side. So anytym they need to appear as xtians, they carry d bible, cross necklace, rosary, etc nd when they need sharp sharp favour or promotion, contract etc, they know where to go. Ll they wnt is to get whatever they need which every way it comes.

If I give u a very difficult riddle/puzzle and u cannot solve it even though u tried all u could, does that make the riddle some sort of juju or black magic? Yes or No? I guess u'll say No.
Riddles/puzzles/logic problems are expressed in words. The fact that some can be so difficult doesn't make them mysterious or supernatural.
Same goes with tricks/illusions such as these. They are like the visual equivalent of verbal complex riddles. There's always an answer even though u don't know it for sure.
Man has gone to the moon and back, has thousands of satellites orbiting the earth, has invented super-computers, has gathered information from the farthest stars & galaxies, has sent probes and space crafts to different celestial bodies etc and yet this simple parlor trick seems to some folks like a supernatural unexplainable phenomenon. Like seriously? So this stick-stone-glass system is the ultimate proof of 'juju', 'jazz' or whatever primitive bullshit u guys believe in?

How man interacts with and understands his surroundings explains why some civilizations are so backward. Like someone noted, with all the mind-boggling powers/juju which our ancestors 'had', why could they be oppressed and controlled by the slave masters and colonialists? Whatever they could not understand, they termed 'supernatural', hence, stifled their capacity to advance technologically

With all the supernatural powers attributed to India, how come they were oppressed by the Brits? Why didn't they utter abracadabra and wipe out their enemies?

Back to the topic, different scientific explanations have been given regarding the photo. Its not about getting it right. The fact that u understand its a trick and apply physical laws in explaining it, makes u a winner unlike some block-headed primitive fellows.

- The whole system could be rooted to the ground via the stick passing through the glass. U might say the glass is transparent but how sure are u? Maybe that's what the illusionist wants u to believe.
This explanation is not my favorite though.

- The whole system could also be held together by magnets (in which case the block and stick are hollow) or powerful adhesives which u're not seeing. The 'block' might be a foam or paper material, so its not as heavy as u think. So the 'block' is tied to the stick, the stick is glued to glass, the glass to block beneath it which is then fixed to the ground.

- Or very tiny 'invisible' cables which goes upwards and ends up tied to some tree could be holding the system. Why is it not swinging u might ask. Maybe because the glass cup and block beneath it are firmly glued to the ground.

- Or it could be the delicate art of balancing. As long as the center of gravity of the system doesn't lie outside it, then yea its possible to balance it. I've seen other photos of balancing more WOW than this one.

Any of the explanations could be the answer.
Even world-class magicians like Criss Angels, David Blaine, Dynamo et al do not claim to use supernatural powers. What they do are all tricks, very complex tricks no doubt which takes weeks and months of careful planning.

To me it's not magic but physics. The centre of gravity of that weight is in tandem with the base and the pivotal support which is the glass cup
