Honestly on this one I do not seem to have any opinion at the moment.
At least until I get more information from persons well grounded (experts) in matters of our laws and constitution, as I do not pretend to be.
However, I have a few questions, even as I am mindful of the fact that a "precedent" (example) had been set by Pa Obasanjo in this matter.
Is this right ? Is this legal ? Does it have a constitutional backing?
The last time it was practised what was the effect? .....on the sector?.....on the economy?........with respect to corruption?
Will the president be obliged to send his name to senate as minister? .....undergo senate screening?......and take an oath as a minister to function in such capacity?
As the years go by I wish that our democracy and democratic institutions grow in depth, stature, and wisdom.

ministers should be technocrats n not politicians. As for buharis corruption, we already know better.

Politicians funded his election campaign so payback is expected and Buhari said he values loyalty as seen from his recent appointments.

Lets see how he juxtaposes this when the list is finally unveiled.

its not only integrity the ministry needs, round pegs in round holes is really needed here. knowledge of the industry operations is also key, which I don't think PMB has. I think its all about oil money and OBJ is giving him the indices to make money even with the saint status he is portraying and change mantra noise is the public. OBJ was also a minister of petroleum and nothing to show for it.

Absolute Fact.
Three categories of people antagonise the move:

1. The crooks that claim subsidy payments illegitimately;


2. The swarm of the Wailing wailers association of Nigerian that want corruption to continue under PMB so they can justify the happenings under the Postulant of the Goat and Yam theory. God forbid.

3. The Goats that ate all the Yams in the barn during the said regime, in order to cover their hoof prints in the barn especially now that one of the big Goats has been apprehended and there are fear she's gonna bleat out he accomplice he/she Goats.

If after 4 months of searching and PMB was not able to found a trustworthy person to handle the ministry of petroleum, then we should question his mode of searching.

Our politicians prefer having responsibility/ control and there's every likelihood of schisms regarding which state appointee will assume that position.

If Buharis usurping the petroleum ministry will curb corruption in the oil industry then no problem. But which state is willing to forgo its right since each ought to have a minister according to the constitution.

Is he capable overseeing that ministry successfully, will this result in additional salary and will he subject himself for NASS screening too


Each state will have a minister but not at the same time.

The truth is, coming from our background (sleaze, perfidy, malfeasance, and all forms of corruption and shady dealings), an incorruptible individual trumps a corruptible technocrat.

Once we have the necessary templates in place, technocrats can come.
BTW, the president can always work with the GMD, and other technocrats as advisers, but ultimately, I feel more comfortable with the president signing off on those documents -- let's see how easy it is to bribe him, ATEOTD, it will be his name and legacy on the line. #bottomline

I wish Mr. President would focus on fighting Boko Haram, for the sake of Nigerians. I have experienced two bomb blasts already at my young age, both in Jos and Abuja. After the experience in Jos, I never bought foodstuff in Terminus Market again and in Abuja, I am too paranoid to go outside. Please face Boko Haram, our greatest challenge at the moment and stop all the pettiness! A good number of corpers and citizens died because of President Buhari's political ambition in the past, so he should please remember their innocent blood that was shed and focus on eliminating extremism and illiteracy in the north. People are living in fear, since the last bomb blast, I have been having nightmares about death and I am very paranoid about going outside. I can only imagine how it must be for internally displaced people and for those in places like Maiduguri. We still don't know the real status of the children from Chibok, where are they There is no time for all this rubbish!!! You can't handle Boko Haram but you are fighting to control the Petroleum Ministry alone, really What are your priorities? I am so tired of this country,gradually losing faith in Nigeria. Greed always wins over sympathy and love for our fellow human beings. I love Nigeria but the more I read things like this, the more I wonder if it is worth it. So many people have died for nothing and our leaders are not doing anything to protect us.
